Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Description
Under the direction of the CEO, the CFO is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the Desert Senita Community Health Center in accordance with applicable funding and governmental agencies requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and health center policies. Through collaboration and partnership with the executive management team, the CFO ensures the successful attainment of the strategic financial objectives which support the ongoing delivery of high-quality clinical and administrative services by the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial reporting for all federal, state and private agencies including the coordination of audits.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
- Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including: organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
- Participate in the development of the organization's business plans, forecasts and programs as a strategic partner.
- Engage the finance committee of the board of directors to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
- Represent the company to all partners, including financial institutions, auditors, public officials, etc.
- Develop credibility throughout the organization by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization.
- Develop a mechanism for balancing different software systems such Nextgen, Abila and Liberty.
- Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their department.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
- Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
- Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
- Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.
- Evaluate the finance department for continued improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth.
- Remain up-to-date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business management, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university is preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years' progressive financial/accounting management experience, preferably in a healthcare organization.Job Type:
