Function:
Leads and oversees the financial operations of the operating company and affiliated family-office activities. This hands-on executive role operates at both the strategic and transactional levels, advising ownership and senior leadership while maintaining responsibility for accurate books, financial statements, cash management, accounting operations, tax coordination, and internal controls. Oversees the financial administration of multiple legal entities, investment and banking relationships, real estate holdings, trusts and estate-planning structures, personal financial reporting, and other significant assets. Ensures financial records are complete, accurate, confidential, and supported by effective processes while providing ownership with clear analysis of liquidity, performance, risk, and long-term financial strategy.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Finance and Accounting o Direct all accounting and financial operations of the company. o Maintain responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and financial records. o Oversee and, when necessary, directly perform bookkeeping and accounting functions. o Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and balance-sheet reconciliations. o Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. o Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, and supporting schedules. o Develop annual operating budgets, forecasts, long-range financial plans, and budget-to-actual and other variance analyses. o Develop financial models to support business planning, capital expenditures, acquisitions, financing decisions, and other strategic initiatives. o Establish and maintain appropriate accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial approval processes. o Coordinate annual tax filings, tax planning, financial statement audits and reviews, lender reporting, insurance audits, and other financial compliance requirements with outside professionals. o Present financial performance, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to ownership and executive leadership. Family Office Financial Management o Oversee the accounting and financial administration of family-office entities and assets. o Maintain accurate books and financial records for multiple entities, including LLCs, partnerships, corporations, trusts, foundations, and other ownership structures, as applicable. o Manage banking, cash balances, transfers, distributions, capital contributions, and intercompany or inter-entity transactions. o Maintain clear separation and proper accounting between corporate, family-office, investment, and personal activities. o Prepare consolidated and entity-level financial reporting for ownership. o Track investment accounts, private investments, capital calls, distributions, investment-related cash flows, and cost-basis information required by tax and investment advisors. o Coordinate with investment managers, wealth advisors, private banks, custodians, and other financial institutions. o Oversee accounting and financial reporting for family-owned real estate and other significant assets, including acquisition costs, debt, capital improvements, depreciation information, operating expenses, and cash flows. o Maintain debt schedules and oversee payments for mortgages, lines of credit, and other obligations. o Coordinate family-office tax planning and tax-return preparation with CPAs and other tax professionals. o Organize and maintain documentation required for individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate tax filings. o Work with estate-planning attorneys and tax advisors regarding trusts, gifting strategies, ownership structures, and estate-planning initiatives. o Provide ownership with clear reporting regarding overall liquidity, cash requirements, investment activity, debt, and financial position. Treasury, Banking, and Cash Management o Maintain oversight of all corporate and family-office bank accounts. o Develop short- and long-term cash-flow forecasts and manage liquidity across multiple companies and entities. o Optimize cash balances while ensuring adequate operating and investment liquidity. o Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, debt obligations, and financing arrangements. o Review and approve significant payments, wires, transfers, and other financial transactions in accordance with established controls. o Establish appropriate fraud-prevention, authorization, and cash-control procedures. Tax, Compliance, and Risk Management o Serve as the primary financial liaison with external tax professionals. o Coordinate federal, state, local, and other applicable tax filings across corporate and family-office entities. o Develop tax-planning strategies in conjunction with qualified tax advisors. o Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained to support tax positions and entity transactions. o Monitor applicable financial and regulatory compliance requirements. o Coordinate insurance coverage and risk-management activities, as appropriate. o Ensure strong controls surrounding sensitive financial information, banking credentials, and financial transactions. Strategic and Executive Responsibilities o Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and senior leadership. o Translate complex accounting, tax, investment, and financial information into practical recommendations. o Evaluate business opportunities, investments, acquisitions, real estate transactions, and major capital expenditures. o Conduct scenario analysis and financial modeling for significant decisions. o Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions. o Assist with corporate structure, financing, succession planning, and long-term wealth-management initiatives in coordination with outside professionals. o Develop financial systems and processes capable of supporting organizational growth and increasing financial complexity. People Leadership and Development o Lead, develop, and support team members and direct reports by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, fostering collaboration, and promoting engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. CPA designation strongly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Significant progressive accounting and financial-management experience, including senior leadership responsibility. o Demonstrated experience overseeing the complete accounting cycle and producing financial statements. o Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles. o Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, financial close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and financial reporting. o Experience managing multiple companies, entities, or complex ownership structures. o Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial modeling. o Strong experience working with CPAs, tax professionals, attorneys, bankers, lenders, and investment professionals. o Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. o Exceptional attention to detail and ability to independently verify financial information. o Ability and willingness to work at both the CFO/strategic level and the detailed accounting/bookkeeping level. o Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential financial and personal information with discretion. Strongly Preferred Qualifications o Prior experience as a CFO, Controller, Family Office CFO, Director of Finance, or similar senior financial position. o Direct experience within a single-family office or closely held or family-owned business. o Experience managing accounting for multiple LLCs, partnerships, trusts, and investment entities. o Experience with commercial and/or residential real estate accounting. o Experience with private investments, investment partnerships, capital calls, and distributions. o Experience coordinating individual, partnership, corporate, trust, and estate tax matters with outside professionals. o Experience with estate-planning structures and intergenerational wealth-management activities. o Experience managing sophisticated banking, treasury, and lending relationships.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of GAAP, accounting operations, general-ledger management, financial reporting, internal controls, treasury, cash-flow forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, and multi-entity accounting. Strong understanding of corporate and family-office financial administration, including investment activity, real estate holdings, debt, tax coordination, trusts, ownership structures, and confidential personal financial information. Able to evaluate detailed financial records, identify discrepancies, and translate complex accounting, tax, investment, and financial matters into clear recommendations.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in senior financial leadership, complete-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax coordination, multi-entity accounting, and management of external professional relationships. Experience with family-office operations, closely held businesses, real estate, private investments, trusts, estate-planning structures, and sophisticated banking relationships strongly preferred. Proven ability to work independently, lead and develop staff, investigate transactions, resolve accounting issues, advise ownership, and personally handle financial matters, as needed.
