HARTFORD INTERNATIONALUNIVERSITY FOR RELIGION AND PEACE CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (HIU), one of the nation's leading resources for interreligiouseducation, research, and peace studies, seeks its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). HIU's mission is to educate leaders and enableinstitutions to thrive in a religiously rich and complex world. As a senior officer reporting directly to the President, the CFO will helpthe University enhance operations and processes; strengthen the enrollment pipeline; ensure an exemplary experience for students, faculty,and staff; expand academic programs; build partnerships; and distinguish HIU among its peers. To aid these goals, HIU demonstratessignificant financial and institutional strengths: a substantial endowment, minimal debt, stable unrestricted operating revenue, strongphilanthropic and foundation relationships, an engaged and generous Board, and continued investment in its physical campus. With 44employees, including 24 faculty and three postdoctoral fellows, the University offers five master's degrees and two doctorates, as well ascertificates and continuing education. Four well-regarded Centers bring recognition to the institution and its mission. Given HIU'srecent rebranding and the opportunity to work with a new President, this is an exciting time to join the University's executive team. TheCFO will oversee facilities, safety and emergency measures, risk and insurance, and auxiliary and residential operations, as well asoutsourced functions of bookkeeping, auditing, technology, and investment management. Because the current CFO serves on an interim basis,this position is available as soon as it can be filled, with an expected start date no later than January 1, 2027. The CFO will beexpected to serve as a strategic and forward-looking partner and to develop a business model that ensures a thriving university long intothe future. Responsibilities include collaborating to grow net tuition revenue and diversify revenue streams; continuing to improvebudgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial reporting; developing and overseeing an integrated approach to capital planning anddeferred maintenance; and working closely with outsourced services. The CFO will also build on the momentum currently on campus by inspiringthe community to work toward common goals in support of the University's mission. Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations and an MBA are preferred. The salary range is$125,000-$175,000, based on experience.
