Job Description

Interim CFO A growing nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Interim CFO to provide strategic financial leadership during a transitional period. The Interim CFO will oversee financial operations, support executive leadership, and ensure the organization maintains strong financial stewardship across multiple funding sources and programs. This position is ideal for a finance leader with experience in nonprofit organizations, grant management, cash flow forecasting, audits, and financial reporting.
Target Compensation:
120k – 150k Key Responsibilities of the
Interim CFO:
Provide executive-level financial leadership and strategic guidance. Review financial reports and ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. Oversee and manage a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast. Monitor organizational liquidity and identify financial risks and opportunities. Support relationships with funding sources and assist with financial communications. Lead audit preparation efforts and coordinate with external auditors. Review and prepare financial statements and management reporting packages. Oversee month-end and year-end financial reporting cycles. Support grant reporting, compliance, and cost allocation activities. Mentor and provide oversight to accounting and finance staff. Evaluate financial processes and recommend operational improvements. Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives. Preferred Qualifications for the
Interim CFO:
Previous CFO, Fractional CFO, VP of Finance, or senior financial leadership experience. Strong nonprofit accounting and financial management background. Experience managing complex grant-funded environments. Advanced knowledge of cash flow forecasting and financial planning. Audit and financial statement preparation experience. Ability to operate both strategically and tactically. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Experience within nonprofit, social services, healthcare, or other mission-driven organizations preferred. #
