Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day management of the organization's financial health. The CFO will lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and risk management, ensuring that our financial operations align with our mission and values. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of nonprofit finance, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for making a meaningful difference in the autism community. This is an in-office position. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, providing clear financial insight to inform organizational decisions. Lead long-term financial planning and sustainability initiatives. Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the mission and growth of the organization. Financial Management & Reporting Oversee all financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. Present financial reports and dashboards to the CEO, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the development of the annual organizational budget in collaboration with department heads. Monitor budget performance and work with departments to manage variances effectively. Provide multi-year financial projections and scenario planning. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as nonprofit regulatory and reporting requirements. Oversee the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors. Manage insurance policies, legal matters, and risk mitigation strategies. Grants & Fund Management Support the development team in grant budgeting, reporting, and fund tracking. Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds to ensure appropriate use and reporting. Team Leadership & Collaboration Supervise finance team members and foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture. Work cross-functionally with program, development, and operations teams to support strategic goals. Communicate complex financial information clearly and compassionately to non-financial stakeholders. Qualifications Proven experience (typically 7+ years) in senior financial leadership, preferably within a nonprofit organization. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles (FASB, GAAP) and IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations. Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, audit preparation, and financial management. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and donor management systems. Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. High level of integrity, transparency, and commitment to ethical practices. Passion for or personal connection to autism advocacy, neurodiversity, or disability inclusion is strongly preferred. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $90,000 to $120,000 Benefits include: healthcare, generous PTO, parental leave, staff development and growth opportunities.
