A Chief Financial Officer is responsible for managing the financial actions of a company or organization. Duties include financial planning, analyzing financial strengths and weaknesses, proposing corrective actions, and tracking cash flow.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of Hideaway Beach Club's Leadership Team and serves as its senior financial strategist, steward, and business partner. Reporting directly to the General Manager/Chief Operations Officer, the CFO leads all financial operations, translates financial information into actionable recommendations, and helps shape decisions that advance the Club's mission, long-term financial sustainability, and exceptional member experience. This role extends well beyond accounting and financial reporting. The CFO serves as a trusted advisor to the General Manager/COO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and department leaders, providing meaningful business intelligence, strategic insight, and sound financial guidance. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Financial Leadership Serve as a strategic financial partner to the GM/COO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and department leaders. Provide the financial perspective necessary to support short- and long-term operational and strategic decisions. Translate complex financial information into clear, meaningful insights and actionable recommendations. Develop and maintain long-range financial models supporting the Club's strategic plan, operating objectives, capital priorities, and financial sustainability. Evaluate the financial impact of major initiatives, member programs, operational changes, capital investments, and strategic opportunities. Identify emerging financial opportunities, risks, trends, and challenges and proactively recommend appropriate actions. Promote financial discipline, accountability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Ensure financial strategy remains aligned with the Club's mission, vision, member expectations, and long-term objectives. Financial Operations & Stewardship Provide oversight of accounting, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, member billing, payroll, cash management, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audit, tax, and internal controls. Ensure accuracy, integrity, timeliness, and transparency of financial records and reporting. Maintain appropriate financial policies, procedures, controls, and approval processes. Monitor cash flow, liquidity, working capital, reserves, and overall financial position. Establish meaningful financial metrics, dashboards, and reporting that enable leadership to identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions. Provide timely financial and operational reporting to department leaders, Leadership Team, Finance Committee, and Board. Monitor budget-to-actual performance and partner with department leaders to understand variances and develop action plans. Ensure strong financial controls and best practices consistent with fiduciary responsibility and sound governance. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process in partnership with department heads. Develop a proactive, transparent, collaborative budgeting process aligned with strategic priorities. Prepare forecasts and rolling outlooks that anticipate changing business conditions. Analyze revenue, labor, operating expenses, capital requirements, and other key financial drivers. Identify unfavorable trends and variances early and recommend corrective action. Strengthen budget ownership, financial accountability, and business acumen among department leaders. Help operational leaders understand the financial implications of decisions while maintaining service standards and member expectations. Capital Planning & Asset Stewardship Provide financial leadership for long-range capital planning and the Club's capital improvement program. Develop and maintain multi-year capital expenditure forecasts and funding strategies. Evaluate capital projects for financial feasibility, return on investment, lifecycle costs, funding requirements, and long-term impact. Partner with the GM, Board, department leaders, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders on major construction, renovation, and improvement projects. Monitor capital project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts. Support appropriate reserve funding strategies and long-term asset stewardship. Ensure capital investments are financially responsible while supporting an exceptional member experience. Board & Committee Partnership Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and other appropriate committees. Attend and actively participate in Board and committee meetings, presenting financial results, forecasts, analysis, recommendations, and strategic considerations. Prepare clear, professional, decision-oriented financial presentations for volunteer leaders. Provide objective and independent financial perspective while supporting the GM and Leadership Team. Establish credibility and trust through transparency, consistency, responsiveness, and sound judgment. Anticipate questions and ensure Board and committee members have the information necessary to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities. Risk Management, Compliance & Governance Maintain the highest standards of financial integrity, internal controls, governance, and fiduciary responsibility. Direct the annual audit process and serve as the primary contact for external auditors. Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial statements, tax filings, regulatory reports, and other compliance obligations. Proactively prepare the Club for audits and prevent material weaknesses or significant control deficiencies. Monitor compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, financial regulations, and Club policies. Partner with legal counsel, insurance advisors, auditors, tax professionals, and other experts as appropriate. Provide financial oversight and risk assessment related to insurance, property and casualty exposures, contracts, investments, and significant financial commitments. Maintain appropriate documentation and controls related to retirement plans and other financial programs. Identify financial, operational, technological, and business risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. Technology & Information Systems Provide oversight of the Club's financial technology environment and Information Technology function. Partner with outsourced technology providers to ensure systems support operational and financial objectives. Evaluate technology investments based on security, functionality, efficiency, scalability, and return on investment. Provide leadership oversight of cybersecurity priorities, data protection, access controls, and technology risk. Leverage technology and automation to improve financial reporting, efficiency, communication, and decision-making. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing Finance and Accounting team. Establish clear expectations for performance, accountability, service, accuracy, and professionalism. Recruit, retain, develop, and recognize talented finance professionals. Conduct regular performance discussions and create meaningful professional development opportunities. Build succession plans and develop future leaders within the Finance function. Partner with Human Resources and other leaders to ensure compliance with Club policies and applicable employment requirements. Cross-Department Business Partnership The CFO is expected to be a highly visible, collaborative leader who builds strong working relationships across the Club. Partner with department leaders to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, productivity, and accountability. Help leaders understand the financial drivers of their departments and develop stronger business acumen. Provide financial insight while respecting the expertise and operational responsibilities of department leaders. Encourage collaboration rather than creating silos between Finance and operations. Participate in strategic planning and cross-functional initiatives. Serve as a resource when evaluating staffing, purchasing, vendor relationships, pricing, programming, and other significant business decisions. Maintain an approachable leadership style and genuine willingness to understand the operation beyond the numbers. Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Significant progressive financial leadership experience, preferably as a CFO, Vice President of Finance, or Controller. Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, cash management, and financial reporting. Demonstrated experience providing financial leadership within a complex organization. Proven ability to partner effectively with a GM/COO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and leadership team. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable business recommendations. Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Strong working knowledge of financial systems, business intelligence, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office. Demonstrated integrity, discretion, sound judgment, and fiduciary responsibility. Preferred Experience in a premier private country club, resort, luxury service environment, community association, or similarly complex member-based organization. Experience working with volunteer Boards and committees. CPA, MBA, or other advanced financial credential. Experience with significant capital improvement, construction, renovation, or facilities projects. Experience overseeing Information Technology and/or technology transformation. Experience with retirement plans, investment programs, insurance, and risk management. Experience with long-range capital planning and reserve funding. Experience leading process improvement.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline required. CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced professional credential preferred. Equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and demonstrated financial leadership may be considered.
