Position Overview Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy and accounting operations for a construction company based in Rossville, Georgia. This role will oversee financial reporting across multiple entities, manage an accounting team, and partner closely with the CEO to support business performance and growth. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting experience, particularly in work in progress (WIP) reporting, job costing, project profitability, and cash flow management. This position requires a leader who delegates effectively, develops the team, and communicates confidently with customers and operational leadership. The CFO will also help strengthen financial processes and support the evaluation of new accounting software. Key Responsibilities Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning across three entities Oversee construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and overbillings and underbillings Partner with project and operational leaders to review project costs, estimated costs to complete, margins, and financial risks Ensure accurate, timely financial statements, monthly and year-end close processes, and consolidated year-end reporting Manage cash flow, working capital, billing, and collections to support ongoing projects and business needs Lead and develop the accounting team, clearly assigning responsibilities, delegating work, and establishing accountability Translate financial results into practical recommendations for the CEO and leadership team Communicate directly with customers regarding billing, payment questions, and other financial matters Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting consistency across the organization Coordinate with external accounting, tax, and banking partners Support the evaluation and potential implementation of new accounting software, including improvements to current software processes Qualifications Significant financial leadership experience in construction or a closely related project-based business Strong working knowledge of construction accounting, with demonstrated ownership of WIP reporting, job costing, and project financial analysis Experience overseeing financial reporting for multiple entities, including consolidated reporting Proven ability to lead an accounting team, delegate effectively, and develop staff Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally in customer meetings and phone conversations Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial controls Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement when needed Experience evaluating or implementing accounting systems is preferred
