Chief Financial Officer

Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and shape our organizational growth. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will oversee all financial activities, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive strategic initiatives that enhance our financial health. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence company direction through expert financial management, innovative planning, and effective leadership. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in corporate finance, accounting standards, risk management, and strategic planning within a non-profit setting. Duties Provide leadership and assistance to the office manager in all responsibilities related to the bookkeeping functions assigned to this position including A/P, A/R, payroll, and financial reporting. Ensure integrity and accuracy of the accrual based accounting records maintained by the department using Blackbaud's Financial Edge accounting software. Prepare journal entries to accurately reflect the financial position of the organization at the end of each reporting period on a cash basis. Maintain proper records to support the allocation of joint costs related to the organization. Act as controller during the budgeting process. Maintain proper records associated with all gifts in-kind. Supervise audit processes, internal controls including COSO frameworks, SOX compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting obligations. Prepare and distribute accurate cash based financial reports to management, internal staff, audit committee members and finance committee members as necessary. Provide accrual based financial statements to the audit committee on a semi-annual basis. Compile documentation required for the annual preparation of the Form 990 as required by external tax accountants. Qualifications Proven experience in senior finance leadership roles such as Finance Director or CFO with a strong background in corporate finance and accounting systems. Extensive knowledge of
GAAP, IFRS, IAS
standards, and industry-specific financial regulations including ASC 606 for revenue recognition. Strong skills in financial analysis, modeling, forecasting analysis, and development of financial projection models. Exceptional communication skills in financial report writing and interpretation for varied audiences. Ability to develop strategic plans that align with organizational objectives while managing budgets efficiently. Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and public accounting practices is advantageous.
