NE Portland Position Overview A regional community services non-profit is seeking a hands-on, strategic financial leader to serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on a flexible part-time basis (20-35 hours per week). The CFO will lead the fiscal department, manage dual-grant revenue operations, oversee audit compliance, and partner with executive leadership and advisory bodies to maintain financial integrity and long-term sustainability. Key Responsibilities Grant Cash Management & Drawdowns Direct and execute monthly cash drawdowns between two primary funding sources with differing award periods following each month-end close. Track and administer incoming awards through federal and state payment management systems. Oversee the tracking and allocation of grant funds specifically designated for real property, facility maintenance, and capital assets. Fiscal Leadership & Governance Reporting Provide direct leadership, supervision, and guidance to the internal accounting team. Review, annotate, and present monthly financial reports for the board of directors, executive leadership, and policy governance committees. Translate complex financial metrics into clear, actionable insights for key non-financial stakeholders. Internal Controls & Audit Oversight Personally complete monthly bank reconciliations as a core internal control measure. Lead and manage the annual independent audit process, maintaining the agency's strong track record of clean compliance. Maintain rigorous internal control policies, cost allocation frameworks, and general ledger oversight.
Qualifications & Experience Education:
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration Experience:
Senior non-profit financial leadership experience (CFO, Finance Director, or Controller). Proven expertise in grant accounting, multi-source fund administration, and drawdown workflows across overlapping grant cycles. Familiarity with public grant performance standards and advisory committee reporting structures is preferred.
