Job Description

Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for an experienced non-profit/government financial leader to support an organization as an interim CFO. This 3+ month interim position will guide budgeting, grant oversight, reporting, and team leadership while the organization conducts a search for a permanent executive. The role calls for a steady, collaborative finance leader who can support day-to-day operations, strengthen controls, and deliver clear insight to leadership and stakeholders. This role must be based in Columbus, OH, working a hybrid schedule 3 days in the office.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct organization-wide financial planning activities, including annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow strategy, reserve oversight, and longer-range fiscal planning.
  • Oversee accounting and compliance for government and private funding sources, ensuring accurate reporting, reimbursement tracking, and monitoring of subrecipient activity.
  • Produce and present recurring and ad hoc financial reports, translating budget performance, forecasts, and key variances into actionable information for leadership.
  • Lead the annual audit and single audit process by coordinating with external auditors, managing documentation, and following through on any corrective actions.
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls across accounting operations, payroll, procurement, cash management, investments, debt, assets, and external reporting.
  • Partner with operational leaders to align departmental budgets, cost allocation methods, contract finances, and project planning with organizational priorities.
  • Review financial terms within contracts and agreements, helping ensure sound fiscal oversight and compliance in coordination with legal or executive stakeholders when needed.
  • Supervise and develop a small finance team, providing direction, support, and continuity while promoting efficiency and career growth.
  • Advise executives and board-level audiences through financial analysis, risk evaluation, and recommendations presented in a clear and practical manner.
