Posted Date 9/03/2026 Description Home Forward is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a key partner to the Executive Director, executive leadership team, and Board of Commissioners. The CFO will lead the organization's financial strategy and oversee accounting, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, treasury and cash management, investments, debt and public financing, grants, internal controls, risk management, and insurance programs. This is an opportunity for a financial leader who brings strong technical expertise along with the judgment, communication skills, and collaborative approach needed to help an organization navigate complexity and change. The Role Home Forward operates at the intersection of affordable housing, government, real estate, public funding, and community need. The CFO will help the organization serve its mission, by understanding its financial position, assessing risks and opportunities, and making sound decisions about the use of public and organizational resources. Working closely with the Executive Director and executive team, the CFO will: Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations that support organizational priorities and long-term sustainability. Lead effective budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, and financial planning. Ensure the integrity of financial reporting, accounting practices, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Evaluate financial and operational risks and develop strategies to address funding changes, cost pressures, projected deficits, and other emerging challenges. Oversee financial considerations related to real estate development, capital investments, funding sources, and long-term asset sustainability. Lead and develop a team of finance professionals in service of our mission. You will be able to:
Lead with financial expertise. Bring substantial knowledge of accounting, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy in a complex organization. Serve as a trusted executive partner. Build credibility with senior leaders, offer sound counsel, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and work collaboratively to move issues forward. Navigate change and complexity. Remain thoughtful and solutions-oriented when circumstances are evolving, resources are constrained, or decisions involve difficult tradeoffs. Communicate with clarity . Translate complex financial information into clear, meaningful information for audiences with varying levels of financial expertise, including employees, executives, Board members, community stakeholders, and external partners. Understand the affordable housing environment. Appreciate the financial, regulatory, funding, and operational complexities associated with affordable housing and public-sector organizations. We will continuously monitor pay and total compensation to ensure that our decisions are aligned with our philosophy, the Oregon Equal Pay Act, our organizational culture, and all relevant statutory requirements.
