The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team and a strategic partner to the CEO and owners, responsible for driving profitability, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the long-term financial health of the company. This individual will have a specialized focus on cost containment, margin management, and product sourcing, while also overseeing the full spectrum of financial management, including FP&A, budgeting, tax, insurance, working capital management, forecasting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, strategic leader with a proven track record of success in a dynamic distribution or manufacturing environment. The CFO is a forward-looking business strategist who translates data into actionable strategy and provides rigorous financial oversight across the product and vendor lifecycle, requiring a deep understanding of the business and its interactions with customers and vendors. The role extends beyond traditional finance to lead digital and automation transformation and champion the exploration and strategic implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to drive operational efficiency, enhance predictive analytics, and maintain a competitive advantage. This executive will lead a substantial team, serve as a master user of analytics platforms, and maintain a consistent on-site presence to foster strong relationships and collaboration across the organization. What You'll Own & Influence Financial and Business Strategy Planning:
Lead annual budgeting and forecasting, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and market-specific goals Provide in-depth financial analysis and modeling to identify risk, uncover opportunities, and support decision-making Drive the evaluation and integration of AI and machine learning tools to improve forecasting, automate processes, and enhance insights Contribute to future business model development and overall strategic direction Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reporting to executive leadership and ownership Establish and maintain strong financial controls and compliance frameworks
Operational Cost Containment:
Lead initiatives for cost containment of key operational vendor pricing (e.g., freight carriers, payment processors). Analyze significant expenditures to drive cost efficiency and performance improvements Oversee the complex management of manufacturer product chargeback programs.
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 15-20 across finance, analytics, and product management Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement Design and structure the finance organization for efficiency and strategic impact
Pricing & Product Margin Management:
Support and oversee pricing strategy and governance, ensuring data integrity and profitability Collaborate with the CEO and Sales Team to develop and implement sophisticated pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive. Analyze product, category, and customer-level margins to identify improvement opportunities Direct the negotiation and structuring of complex pricing and sales contracts, evaluating them from both a legal risk perspective and an organizational optimization standpoint to accelerate our go-to-market strategy and maximize margin capture.
Cost of Goods & Vendor Management:
Manage manufacturer and vendor relationships, balancing negotiation with long-term partnership development Lead the negotiation and execution of manufacturer and vendor contracts, critically assessing terms from both a legal compliance perspective and an organizational optimization standpoint to drive structural cost improvements and support broader go-to-market strategies. Manufacturer contract analysis and management, providing audit support for special markets customers to ensure pricing and program compliance Cost of goods negotiations to secure the most favorable terms, including pricing, rebates, and payment cycles. Design and manage the manufacturer rebate process to strategically improve profitability.
Product Sourcing & Supply Chain Finance:
Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for international manufacturers. Provide financial oversight and analysis for all product sourcing activities, ensuring a clear view of total landed costs. Collaborate with the sourcing team to evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate favorable costing and payment terms. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred) 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably with "real world" operational experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Master user of BI tools (Power BI), Excel/PowerPivot, and other advanced modeling and analytics platforms; experience leading digital transformation and data technology initiatives is critical. Deep expertise in profit and cost management principles and the financial drivers of a business. Proven experience in building and managing strategic vendor relationships, alongside negotiating and managing complex programs and contracts. Experience with enterprise risk management disciplines and designing effective control frameworks.
