Job Description
The Risk Management Claims Specialist supports corporate insurance and risk-related activities by managing claims, tracking budgets and forecasts, and contributing to corporate risk initiatives. This individual will coordinate closely with operations, safety, accounting, and third-party administrators (TPAs) to ensure efficient claims handling, risk analysis, and reporting. Key Duties Manage all property and casualty claims (auto, cargo, general liability, spills, accidents) from first report through resolution. Act as liaison with TPAs and insurance providers, ensuring timely claim submissions, updates, and settlements. Review open claims regularly and provide insight, strategy recommendations, and settlement direction. Answer calls on the Safety Accident line and document first reports. Prepare weekly claim reserve recaps and monthly financial summaries for operations and accounting teams. Assist with insurance audits. Support the maintenance of insurance certificates and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Provide data analysis and insights for budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting. Partner with operations and safety to ensure proper claim documentation, root cause analysis, and process improvement. Serve as a point of contact for internal teams on insurance and claims-related questions. Present claims trends, financial impacts, and reserve movements to risk leadership. Assist in preparing risk-related reports and summaries for executive review. Responsible for first reports via the Safety Accident Line. Job Qualifications Associate in Claims (AIC) or undergraduate degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management or Claims Management (preferably within transportation, logistics, or freight). Familiarity with Risk/Claims Management Information Systems (RMIS/CMIS). Prior experience as an insurance claims or workers' compensation adjuster preferred. Familiarity with cargo, auto, workers' compensation, and general liability insurance. Understanding of insurance policy structures, deductibles, and reserving practices. Freight or logistics industry background preferred.
