Help clients navigate the moments when insurance matters most. Avery Insurance is looking for an organized, empathetic, and service-minded Associate Claims Advisor to support clients throughout the Personal and Commercial Insurance claims process while developing the technical expertise to grow into a trusted claims professional. The Opportunity Working closely under the mentorship of Avery's Claims Manager, you will serve as a central point of coordination for both Personal and Commercial Insurance claims. You will help ensure claims are reported accurately, documentation stays complete, clients remain informed, and claim activity keeps moving. This is a developmental role with hands-on coaching and meaningful exposure to claims advocacy, carrier relationships, coverage interpretation, negotiation, and industry technology. What You'll Do Claims Intake, Monitoring & Follow-Up Receive and report new Personal and Commercial Lines claims to insurance carriers. Gather claim details and supporting documentation, establish claim files, and maintain accurate electronic records. Monitor open claims, milestones, reserve changes, settlement activity, and closure. Identify stalled claims or outstanding items, follow up with adjusters, and escalate concerns to the Claims Manager when appropriate. Client Communication & Advocacy Serve as a consistent point of contact for clients throughout the claims process. Provide proactive status updates, answer general claim questions, and communicate next steps. Support clients through difficult claim situations with empathy and professionalism. Work alongside the Claims Manager to advocate for timely, fair claim resolution and help clients understand the process. Documentation & Department Support Maintain detailed documentation of claim activity and record conversations with clients, carriers, and vendors. Organize claim correspondence and supporting documents to ensure files meet agency documentation standards. Assist the Claims Manager with daily workflow management, claim diaries, reports, summaries, department projects, and process improvements. Help maintain departmental procedures and documentation. What You'll Bring Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-first mindset. Professionalism and empathy, especially when clients are navigating stressful situations. Ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and work independently while collaborating closely with the Claims Manager. Curiosity, ownership, and a genuine interest in developing claims expertise. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency management systems, or the ability to learn new systems quickly. High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Prior insurance, administrative, customer service, or claims experience preferred, but not required. Property & Casualty License required. Valid driver's license. What Success Looks Like Clients feel informed, supported, and well cared for during stressful claim situations. Claims keep moving because follow-up is consistent and potential issues are identified early. Communication with clients, carriers, and Avery's Claims Manager is proactive and clear. Claim documentation is highly accurate and complete. Technical claims knowledge and confidence grow steadily through mentorship and hands-on experience. Every interaction reflects Avery's commitment to client advocacy.
Compensation & Flexible Work Arrangement Salary:
$60,000-$80,000 annually, based on experience.
Work arrangement:
Flexible. This position may be structured as hybrid, remote, or in-office, with connection to Avery's Wolfeboro and/or Portsmouth, New Hampshire offices based on the needs of the role and the successful candidate.
