Insurance Support Specialist (Hybrid - Mississippi / Boonville/Tupelo Area)
About Us:
Emergent Learning is a growing healthcare organization dedicated to providing high-quality services and support to our clients and families. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to support our administrative and patient access operations.
Position Overview:
This role focuses on patient intake, administrative coordination, and insurance support activities, including account follow-up. The Patient Access Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring accurate onboarding, resolving account issues, and maintaining communication with clients, providers, and insurance representatives. This is a hybrid position, combining remote work with the expectation of working from a local office/work center in the Tupelo area as operations expand. Key Responsibilities Manage new patient intake and onboarding, including collecting and entering demographic and insurance information Verify insurance eligibility and document patient responsibility (deductibles, copays, coinsurance) Serve as a primary point of contact for client and family inquiries via phone and email Track and follow up on outstanding accounts, authorizations, and required documentation Contact insurance companies to follow up on claim status, resolve issues, and assist with denied or delayed claims Communicate with payers to obtain updates and support timely resolution of account concerns Support clinical and administrative teams Maintain accurate records in systems such as TheraNest and internal tracking tools Assist with administrative workflows to improve efficiency and patient access to services Qualifications Experience in medical office administration, patient access, or healthcare support roles -preferred Basic understanding of insurance terms (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, claim status) Experience with insurance follow-up or claim issue resolution is a plus-preferred Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Comfortable making outbound calls to insurance companies Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with TheraNest or similar systems is a plus Customer service experience, especially in healthcare or call center environments Ability to manage confidential information in compliance with HIPAA regulations Must reside in Mississippi preferably within reasonable distance to the Tupelo area
