Multi-Line Claim Adjuster - Subrogation Hybrid Work Schedule Buffalo, New York Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for a Multi-Line Claim Adjuster - Subrogation t o join our Claims Legal team located in Buffalo, New York. The Multi-Line Claim Adjuster - Subrogation will become part of a dedicated claims team focusing on identifying, developing, and pursuing subrogation opportunities arising from multiple lines of business including property, auto, WC, PIP and general liability claims. This position interacts extensively with home office technical managers, internal colleagues as well as policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, and a multitude of claim-related service providers. This model supports collaboration while providing flexibility and work-life balance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Cultivating relationships with claims and other internal staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and a variety of service providers and experts all while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders. Manages subrogation files from initial identification through recovery while ensuring timely investigation, evidence review, negotiation, documentation, and compliance with company standards. Evaluate liability, damages, and recoverability to determine the viability of pursuing recovery. Responsible for the timely investigation, evaluation and equitable recovery of all assigned multi-line claims and subrogation claims. Provides a high level of customer service while managing a portfolio of subrogation claims. Ensuring timely and accurate reserves consistent with established reserving philosophy and practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Qualified candidates will have a 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience. 3+ years of claims adjusting experience with subrogation exposure. Working knowledge of property, auto, and liability claim handling. Strong knowledge of negligence principles, liability determination, and insurance coverage. Familiarity with arbitration forums such as Arbitration Forums, Inc. Excellent negotiation, investigation, and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience coordinating with legal counsel on recovery litigation. Knowledge of evidence preservation and expert coordination. Experience with claim management systems (e.g., WINs, ImageRight, or similar platforms).
Merchants Insurance Group Pay information:
Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale. The estimated salary for this role ranges from $60,000 - $75,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience and qualifications.
