This position can be fully remote and offers the potential to convert to a permanent role for the right candidate. The Claims Adjuster will be responsible for managing a caseload of New York Workers' Compensation claims , including investigating claims, determining compensability, establishing reserves, issuing payments, and communicating with insureds, brokers, medical professionals, and other involved parties. We are open to both Claims Adjuster and Senior Claims Adjuster-level candidates , with compensation based on depth of experience. Looking to hire ASAP!

Key Responsibilities:

Investigate, evaluate, and manage assigned Workers' Compensation claims Handle New York Workers' Compensation claims in accordance with applicable jurisdictional requirements Determine coverage and compensability and identify potential subrogation opportunities Establish, maintain, and adjust claim reserves based on changes in exposure Ensure timely and accurate payment or denial of benefits Develop and execute action plans for effective claim resolution Manage medical, disability, litigation, and return-to-work components of assigned claims Negotiate claim settlements as appropriate Review medical documentation and authorize treatment in accordance with applicable guidelines Maintain detailed and accurate claim documentation Communicate regularly with insureds, brokers, claimants, attorneys, medical providers, and internal partners Identify potentially suspicious claims and escalate appropriately Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting required deadlines and service expectations

Qualifications:

Previous experience handling Workers' Compensation claims required Experience handling New York Workers' Compensation claims strongly preferred Approximately 3-5+ years of lost-time Workers' Compensation claims experience preferred for senior-level consideration Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant insurance industry experience Active claims adjuster license where required, or ability to obtain required licensing Knowledge of Workers' Compensation regulations and medical terminology Experience with claim investigations, reserves, payments, compensability determinations, and claim resolution Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making abilities Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills Proficiency with
