Job Description

Position Information Position Title Director of Veterinary Compliance Status Full Time Job Summary The Director of Veterinary Compliance (DVC) is primarily responsible for ensuring that the College complies with existing policies, best practices, and University reporting requirements; complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; complies with oversight agencies; and upholds the highest ethical and professional standards. The DVC is a direct report to the Executive Director of Veterinary Administration. Essential Job Duties Promotes the legacy and mission of the CVM and the University. Be an advocate for excellence in compliance functions. Works with the Dean, the Executive Director of Veterinary Administration and additional CVM Leadership to ensure that the College complies with existing policies, best practices, and University reporting requirements; complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; complies with oversight agencies and upholds the highest ethical and professional standards. Works closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, and Unit Directors to ensure that policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are developed, implemented, maintained, and monitored. Establishes, maintains, and promotes an effective, comprehensive, coordinated compliance program designed to prevent, monitor, detect, and respond to non-compliance with the policies and procedures of the College. Works closely with the Executive Director of Veterinary Administration on a regular basis and provides updates on compliance matters in the veterinary complex. Identifies non-compliance matters and brings appropriate corrective action to the attention of the Executive Director of Veterinary Administration. Works closely with the University to ensure compliance with existing compliance practices, such as reporting; establishment of policies and procedures; training faculty, staff, and students; and taking corrective actions, if necessary. Works with the CVM Leadership on compliance with the accreditation standards set by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education (COE) accrediting agency. Works with the CVM Safety Committee to ensure compliance with safety policies and safety processes relating to faculty, staff, and students. Works with faculty, ADA Officer and Director of Student Affairs to ensure ADA accommodations needs are met and the college is in compliance. Ensures that standards, procedures, and other information regarding college compliance are communicated clearly and practically to internal and external stakeholders. Organize compliance training and awareness workshops for the CVM Leadership, faculty, staff, and students, as needed. Provides leadership with updates, generates reports for strategic planning, develops solutions, and implements policies and procedures aligned with the College's programs and initiatives. Engage in professional development to remain current on compliance regulations. All other duties and tasks assigned. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Bachelor's degree or an equivalence of relevant education and/or related professional experience required; however, an advanced degree in business or public administration, educational leadership, or a related discipline is preferred Physical Demands Skills and Attributes Strong organizational skills and ability to handle detail-oriented task. Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for interactions with a diverse administration, faculty, staff, and students. Initiative, energetic, collaborative, proactive decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in software, including Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, information systems, and databases Possess a strong moral compass, high integrity, and ethical standards.
