Under the general direction of the VP of Finance and Accounting, the Trade Compliance Manager helps lead the effort to maintain compliance with applicable import and export regulations (EAR, ITAR, and OFAC) for all Valex locations. This includes onboarding, assessments, disclosure support, training, export support, import guidance, free trade assistance, DFARS, export personnel development, and any other tasks assigned to ensure continued compliance, as well as the oversight of export compliance resources of foreign locations. Responsible for managing export compliance and enforcing compliance with US export and trade regulations. Responsible for understanding export compliance regulations for the foreign countries that Valex is located and working with local export compliance resources to ensure compliance with non-US export and trade regulations. Serves as the subject matter expert on US import and export control classification regulations and advises management on import and export compliance matters and classification. Assists U.S. based Valex locations in obtaining authorization for their required exports. Engages with internal stakeholders to achieve compliant solutions and participates in internal import and export compliance reviews. Develops and maintains strategic import and export classification processes and solutions. Monitors US regulatory changes and develops/updates compliance procedures. Monitors changes in import regulations and tariffs rates and ensures that the tariff rates in the ERP and policies and procedures are updated to address changes. Identifies import/export non-compliance, resolves problems, and determines/implements process improvements. Develops documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards. Oversees export/import compliance resources of all Valex locations. Ensures up-to-date knowledge and training by participating in Reliance and industry training, and maintaining certifications and licenses, as required. Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in export compliance in a global corporate environment required. High School diploma/GED required, Bachelor degree preferred. Expert knowledge of US export regulations including ITAR, EAR, FTR, and/or OFAC required. Expert knowledge of export classification for metal products and key industry trades required. Broad knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing and distribution of material preferred. Broad understanding of company product(s) and their uses required. Ability to manage time effectively required. Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required. Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal/external customers required. Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications required. This is an onsite, full-time, regular, exempt position with a starting annual salary of $90k and inclusion in our management incentive plan.
