Job Description
Position Summary The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Administration/Compliance will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Athletics Compliance to support the day-to-day administration of the athletics department and ensure institutional adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. This position is intended for a graduate student pursuing an advanced degree who is seeking hands-on, applied experience in intercollegiate athletics administration while completing academic coursework. The Graduate Assistant will gain broad exposure to compliance monitoring, eligibility certification, recruiting regulation, and general athletics department operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the interpretation, communication, and monitoring of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations across all sport programs.
- Support the initial and continuing eligibility certification process for student-athletes, including tracking academic progress, satisfactory progress toward a degree, and amateurism status.
- Assist with the monitoring and processing of financial aid, including athletic scholarship agreements, renewals, reductions, and cancellations.
- Help track and audit recruiting activity, including official and unofficial visits, contact and evaluation periods, and phone/electronic correspondence logs.
- Assist with the administration of playing and practice season limitations (countable athletically related activity/CARA logs).
- Support the processing of transfer paperwork, including notification of transfer and transfer portal entries.
- Help coordinate rules education sessions for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and boosters.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of documentation for NCAA and conference reporting requirements, including squad lists and required annual reports.
- Support day-to-day athletics administration tasks, which may include event management, facility scheduling, or department communications as assigned.
- Maintain accurate, organized compliance records and assist with internal audits of departmental files.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics Compliance or department administration. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree completed prior to the start of the assistantship, and current acceptance into (or enrollment in) a graduate degree program at the institution.
- Strong working knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in, NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office/Excel); ability to learn compliance software and database systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented department.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on athletic event and recruiting schedules. Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework, internship, or prior work experience in athletic administration, compliance, or sport management.
- Familiarity with NCAA compliance software (e.g., ARMS, JumpForward, Teamworks Compliance, or similar).
- Familiarity with the NCAA Legislative Services Database (LSDBi) or eligibility center processes.
