EMAN provides the operational, financial, academic, HR, compliance, and student support infrastructure that helps schools run well and serve families effectively. POSITION SUMMARY
The School Compliance & Board Operations Manager will support the compliance function across EMAN and the schools it partners with. This person will help manage compliance submissions, maintain reporting calendars, support board meeting operations, and assist with grant documentation and reporting. This is a strong fit for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in school operations and compliance. Prior experience in education, charter schools, school operations, reporting, grants, or compliance is helpful, but exact charter compliance experience is not required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance, Grants, and Reporting Help prepare, track, and submit required documents and information to state, ISD, and authorizer entities Maintain a clear compliance calendar to ensure deadlines are visible and met Support grant applications, submissions, documentation, and reporting Gather information from school leaders, central office teams, and other stakeholders Review submissions for accuracy, completeness, and consistency Help improve recurring compliance processes, checklists, and documentation Board Operations and Management Support board meeting preparation for multiple school boards Prepare agendas, board packets, public notices, minutes, attendance confirmations, and follow-up items Coordinate with board members, school leaders, and internal teams to ensure meetings run smoothly Attend evening board meetings as needed, typically 2-3 times per month Reporting, Budgeting, and Finance Support Support budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and recurring reports for leadership Help translate accounting data into clear, useful information for the CFO and senior leaders Provide accounting support for planning, forecasting, and financial decision-making Strengthen accounting checklists, controls, documentation, and recurring workflows Work closely with the CFO, President / COO, HR, operations, compliance, and school-level teams
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
First 6 months. Compliance calendars are accurate, submissions are organized and on time, board packets are prepared cleanly, and recurring work is managed with increasing independence. Over time. Becoming a trusted compliance and board operations lead, supporting multiple boards confidently, improving department processes, and growing toward a senior compliance leadership role.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required Bachelor's degree 4 to 8 years of professional experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage deadlines and recurring processes Comfort working with documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, and board materials Comfort working primarily in person in Southfield, Michigan Willingness to attend evening board meetings as needed Preferred Experience in education, charter schools, school operations / finance, compliance, grants, or administration Experience working with state, authorizer, or school reporting processes Experience preparing board materials, meeting packets, minutes, or formal documents Experience coordinating across multiple teams or stakeholders Familiarity with school reporting systems, authorizer portals, or board management platforms
