Local candidates; most of the team works onsite three days per week Position Summary The Senior Manager / Principal Attorney Global Trade Compliance will support the Global Trade Compliance team in conducting reviews of business operations to assess compliance with U.S. export and import regulations. This position will also support internal investigations of potential compliance matters and the preparation of disclosures related to instances of non-compliance. The role requires an experienced trade compliance professional with advanced knowledge of U.S. export controls, strong investigative and writing capabilities, and the ability to operate independently within a complex, highly matrixed organization. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Empowered Official with expertise in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and experience managing or supporting voluntary disclosures. Key Responsibilities Conduct compliance reviews to assess adherence to U.S. export and import regulations. Support internal investigations involving potential trade compliance violations. Research applicable export control regulations and analyze compliance issues. Develop findings and prepare written summaries of investigative matters. Conduct interviews as part of internal compliance investigations. Prepare draft voluntary disclosures and other correspondence to U.S. Government agencies. Support compliance activities related to ITAR, EAR, and other applicable U.S. export and import requirements. Serve as an experienced Empowered Official and provide guidance on export compliance matters. Support compliance data calls, reporting requirements, recordkeeping, and file management. Participate in working groups and cross-functional compliance initiatives. Support continuous improvement projects involving trade compliance processes and controls. Assist with the development and implementation of compliance processes and procedures. Develop or support trade compliance training. Work effectively with business leaders, programs, functions, legal teams, and other internal stakeholders. Exercise independent judgment and discretion when performing delegated responsibilities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Significant professional experience in export controls and global trade compliance. Experience serving as an Empowered Official within the defense industry . Advanced knowledge of U.S. export and import laws and regulations, including: International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Export Administration Regulations (EAR) Experience conducting or supporting export compliance investigations. Experience preparing disclosures or supporting disclosure-related activities. Experience with
OCR EASE / EMS
export management software . Strong research, analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements. Ability to make sound decisions while complying with applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Experience analyzing, developing, and implementing processes and procedures within established schedule and budget requirements. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a heavily matrixed organization. Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative approach to work. Education & Experience Candidates must meet one of the following combinations of education and relevant experience: Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of export control experience , including investigations. Master's degree with at least 6 years of export control experience , including investigations. Juris Doctor (JD) with at least 4 years of experience in export compliance investigations . Additional Requirements Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by applicable ITAR requirements. Must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels. Highly Desired Experience Strong preference will be given to candidates with 45+ years of experience as an Empowered Official managing voluntary disclosures involving both ITAR and EAR compliance matters. #HRUProfessional
