Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly knowledgeable Director of Safety Compliance specializing in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety compliance programs to ensure our transportation operations meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Your expertise will drive a culture of safety excellence across our logistics and freight management operations, safeguarding personnel, cargo, and company assets while promoting operational efficiency and regulatory adherence on a global scale. Duties Lead the design and execution of comprehensive safety compliance strategies aligned with FMCSA standards, including hours-of-service (HOS), vehicle maintenance, driver qualification files, and drug/alcohol testing protocols. Monitor and analyze transportation safety regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), transportation safety regulations, and international trade regulations to ensure full compliance across all operations. Oversee the management of regulatory reporting requirements, including accident reports, safety audits, and compliance documentation to maintain audit readiness. Collaborate with logistics teams to implement best practices in freight handling, fleet management, export/import management, and customs clearance processes in accordance with Customs regulations compliance. Utilize advanced global trade management software and Excel data analysis tools to assess safety performance metrics, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure adherence to supply chain standards by managing customs brokerage processes, import/export controls, and trade compliance protocols such as the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. Conduct regular training sessions for drivers and logistics personnel on transportation safety regulations, risk management procedures, and compliance management practices to foster a culture of safety awareness. Experience Proven experience in regulatory compliance management within the transportation or logistics industry with a focus on FMCSA regulations. Strong background in freight operations, fleet management, supply chain logistics, and international trade regulations. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets using Excel or similar tools for report writing and performance analysis. Technical proficiency with global trade management software systems and customs clearance platforms. In-depth knowledge of transportation safety regulations including OSHA standards, export/import controls, Customs brokerage management, and risk mitigation strategies. Experience managing compliance programs related to FDA regulations (if applicable), customs brokerage management, and transportation safety protocols. Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop detailed reports, deliver training sessions, and collaborate effectively across departments to uphold safety standards.
