DESCRIPTION
The Director of Compliance, Title VI and Title IX works under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, Wellness and Compliance. The director is responsible for leading the district's equal opportunity and student-facing compliance work, including Title VI and Title IX. The primary duty of the director is to coordinate district compliance with Title VI legislation to prevent discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin, and to coordinate compliance with Title IX legislation to investigate harassment and prevent discrimination based on gender/sex. The director also assists team members in supporting students' academic, social, emotional, physical, mental, and behavioral needs. Stewardship includes multi-tiered learning and support in the areas of prevention, case management, bullying, and grant writing. The director coordinates and collaborates with other departments to support an integrated approach that helps students and staff thrive.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinate district Title VI compliance related to race, color, national origin, shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics, language access, and related student and family concerns. Coordinate district Title IX compliance related to sex-based discrimination, sex-based harassment, sexual harassment, pregnancy and parenting protections, supportive measures, grievance processes, and required training. Receive, document, triage, and coordinate responses to student, family, or staff concerns involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, access, or related civil rights matters. Coordinate or conduct investigations and informal resolutions as assigned, ensuring timely communication, documentation, and appropriate supportive measures. Collaborate with Legal, Human Resources, school administrators, Student Services, and other departments to ensure consistent, legally sound, and student-centered responses. Provide training and technical assistance to administrators, teachers, counselors, coaches, support staff, students, families, and district personnel regarding Title VI, Title IX, nondiscrimination, reporting responsibilities, and prevention. Support students and families through prevention efforts, case management, bullying response, grant writing, and coordination of academic, social, emotional, physical, mental, and behavioral supports. Maintain accurate and confidential records, reports, training documentation, compliance files, and program data in accordance with district policy and legal requirements. Identify patterns, concerns, or barriers related to student civil rights, school climate, access, harassment, bullying, or discrimination and recommend prevention, training, or policy improvements. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic priorities of the district.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credentials Appropriate administrator license authorizing service as an administrator/supervisor. Education and experience 1. Master's degree required. 2. Previous Alpine School District administrator experience and/or experience in district-level student services is preferred. 3. Knowledge of Title VI, Title IX, nondiscrimination procedures, harassment prevention and response, complaint resolution, confidentiality, documentation, and student support practices preferred. 4. Ability to work effectively with students, families, administrators, employees, Legal, Human Resources, community partners, and state or federal agencies. 5. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, judgment, facilitation, investigation, conflict resolution, training, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
