Job Description

Performs administrative, investigative, and field work of moderate difficulty related to enforcing the City's Code of Ordinances, with a focus on animal services and code compliance. This position responds to complaints, conducts inspections, investigates noise complaints violations, and provides education to the public on animal care, local codes, and ordinance compliance. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgement. Two (2) years of professional experience in animal handling, behavior, or law/ordinance enforcement. Employee must obtain Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.) certifications Levels 1 through 4, at the rate of one (1) certification per year during employment. Valid Florida Class E driver's license with a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. Animal Control Officer certification from the Florida Animal Control Association (or obtain within one year of employment). Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Obtain the National Animal Care Officer certification within one (1) year of hire. Or a combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or, MUST obtain within one (1) year of employment. One (1) year experience conducting certificate of use inspections.
