As a Contract Monitor Specialist, you'll play a key role in monitoring solid waste collection contracts, enforcing County ordinances, conducting field inspections, and assisting residents with questions and service concerns. Your work will help ensure reliable collection services while keeping Sarasota County clean, safe, and beautiful. Apply today and make a lasting impact on the community you serve! Support the Compliance/Maintenance Specialist Tier III in monitoring daily solid waste collection operations and investigating non-compliance or violations. Collaborate with contractors and customers to resolve service complaints and improve operational performance. Conduct waste audits and help promote commercial waste reduction and recycling programs to increase diversion from landfill disposal. Oversee programs to increase county facility recycling rate and optimize solid waste services. Assist in designing educational materials and programs to improve business compliance with mandatory waste reduction and recycling ordinances. Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing training, industry research, and collaboration with vendors and county departments, and deliver presentations as needed.
Work Hours :
Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
About You Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or its equivalent. Three (3) year of job-related experience in contract quality assurance interpreting, documenting, reporting and/or correcting violations of regulatory codes or ordinances. - OR - College or University level training in Solid Waste Management, Recycling, Business Management, Finance, or a highly related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience. Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
FACE (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) certification (any level) or other state equivalent. Solid Waste Collection experience. Ability to explain complex rules and rules and regulations to the general public and review, interpret, and apply county ordinances and state statutes.

Passing Substance Screening:
This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything Else Starting Pay Range:
$22.94/hour
