Front Desk, Administration & Compliance Coordinator The Goods Community Cannabis Somerville, MA Job Details Full-time $24 - $28 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule Qualifications Administrative experience High school diploma or GED Business Administration Business Associate's degree Full Job Description Position Summary Serves as the first point of contact for customers, visitors, and vendors, while also owning core administrative functions across HR/payroll, cannabis compliance, and finance. This role blends front-of-house reception duties with sensitive back-office responsibilities. Because the position routinely handles employee records, financial data, and regulatory information, discretion and confidentiality are essential requirements of the job. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (performs other duties as assigned) Front Desk & Visitor Compliance Greet and check in customers, visitors, and vendors at the reception desk Verify government-issued identification for age and compliance purposes Maintain visitor logs and enforce facility access and security protocols Answer and route phone calls; manage general inquiries HR & Payroll Process payroll, including time and attendance review Maintain accurate, confidential employee records including primary administration of UI, PFML and other employee claim information Manage administration of recruiting, support onboarding paperwork and system access setup for new hires; also manages the administration of employee offboarding Cannabis Compliance & Licensing Manage agent registration submissions and renewals with state cannabis regulators Coordinate badge issuance, tracking, and renewals (RVT) for employees Schedule and track background check submissions and renewals Maintain compliance logs and documentation to support audits and inspections; coordinate with third party administrator on license renewals Finance & Bookkeeping Process accounts payable (vendor invoices, payment runs) and accounts receivable Support daily banking needs, including deposits and reconciliations Assist with basic financial recordkeeping and reporting as needed Performs other duties as assigned in a timely and efficient manner Confidentiality & Discretion This role requires consistent, sound judgment in handling sensitive material.
The Coordinator must:
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, financial, and customer information at all times Handle sensitive documents (payroll, banking, government ID) in compliance with company policy and applicable privacy law Exercise discretion in escalating sensitive matters to management rather than discussing them broadly Sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement as a condition of employment Qualifications High school diploma required; Associate's degree in business, accounting, or a related field preferred 2+ years of experience in an administrative, HR, bookkeeping, or front-desk role; cannabis industry experience a plus Familiarity with payroll systems and basic accounts payable/receivable processes strongly preferred Must be 21 or older and able to pass a background check per state cannabis regulations Strong attention to detail, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential information Comfortable with routine ID verification and compliance-driven customer interactions Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand at a reception desk for extended periods Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs (supplies, deliveries)
Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
