Job Overview Licensing & Compliance Coordinator Brilliant Minds Child Development Center Position Summary Brilliant Minds Child Development Center is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Licensing & Compliance Coordinator to oversee all aspects of childcare licensing and regulatory compliance for our center. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations and hands-on experience working in a licensed childcare classroom . This position requires someone who understands both the regulatory requirements and the day-to-day realities of operating a childcare classroom. The Licensing & Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that Brilliant Minds Child Development Center consistently meets the requirements established by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Office of Child Care (OCC), and applicable COMAR regulations . This position is not solely administrative. The individual must be willing and able to assist in the classroom as needed , including providing classroom coverage, supporting teachers, assisting with children, and helping maintain appropriate supervision and classroom operations. Key Responsibilities Licensing & Regulatory Compliance Oversee the center's overall compliance with
MSDE/OCC
licensing requirements. Maintain strong working knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations, including
COMAR 13A.16
- Child Care Centers . Monitor center operations to identify potential licensing or compliance concerns. Maintain a licensing compliance calendar and track important deadlines, inspections, renewals, and required documentation. Monitor changes to Maryland childcare regulations and communicate relevant changes to the Director and staff. Prepare the center for licensing inspections and visits. Maintain documentation related to inspections, compliance concerns, corrective actions, and follow-up. Conduct regular internal compliance checks to ensure the center remains licensing-ready. Child Enrollment & File Compliance Oversee the enrollment paperwork process for all newly enrolled children. Review each child's file to ensure all documentation required by
MSDE/OCC
has been received, completed, and properly maintained. Maintain a standardized checklist for children's files. Follow up with families regarding missing, incomplete, expired, or updated documentation. Conduct routine audits of children's files. Ensure required health, immunization, emergency contact, authorization, allergy/medical, and other required documentation is maintained. Maintain confidentiality and security of children's records. Classroom Compliance Conduct regular classroom compliance checks. Ensure classrooms are meeting applicable requirements for staffing, supervision, ratios, capacity, health, safety, documentation, and required postings. Review classroom records and required documentation. Work directly with teachers to identify and correct compliance concerns. Ensure required classroom forms, logs, schedules, emergency information, and other licensing documentation are maintained. Help ensure classrooms are prepared for both scheduled and unannounced licensing visits. Classroom Support Be willing to work directly in the classroom when needed. Provide classroom coverage when staffing needs arise. Assist teachers with daily classroom routines, transitions, activities, and supervision. Support teachers in maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and compliant classroom environment. Assist with maintaining required ratios and supervision. Step into classrooms as needed during staff breaks, absences, or other staffing situations. Model appropriate classroom practices and compliance expectations for teaching staff. Staff Compliance Monitor staff licensing files and required documentation. Ensure required staff qualifications, training, background checks, certifications, and other documentation are current. Track staff training and professional development requirements. Follow up with employees when required documentation or training is incomplete or approaching expiration. Assist the Director in ensuring staff remain compliant with

requirements.
Qualifications Required:
Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center classroom . Strong knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations and
MSDE/OCC
requirements. Working knowledge of
COMAR 13A.16
. Experience maintaining children's records and/or childcare licensing documentation. Understanding of classroom ratios, supervision, capacity, health, safety, and other childcare licensing requirements. Must be willing to work in the classroom and provide classroom support as needed . Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify compliance issues and follow through until they are resolved. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to work independently while also working effectively with teachers and administration. Preferred Experience Experience as a Childcare Director, Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, Enrollment Coordinator, Licensing Coordinator, or Compliance Coordinator. Experience working directly with
MSDE/OCC
licensing specialists. Experience preparing a childcare center for licensing inspections. Experience conducting internal licensing or compliance audits. Experience maintaining children's and staff licensing files. Experience with Maryland childcare licensing inspections and corrective action requirements. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who understands childcare from both the licensing and classroom perspective . We are looking for someone who can review a child's file in the morning, identify a missing licensing document, walk into a classroom and recognize a compliance concern, help a teacher address the issue, and step into the classroom when additional support is needed. This person should be proactive, dependable, organized, and comfortable holding themselves and others accountable to licensing requirements. The goal of this position is to help ensure that Brilliant Minds Child Development Center is always licensing-ready and operating in compliance with Maryland regulations.
Pay:
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 30.0 per week
