Job Description
Position Summary The Compliance Specialist is responsible for helping financial institution clients maintain compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and internal governance requirements. This role serves as a trusted advisor by assisting with audit management, compliance monitoring, policy development and maintenance, regulatory change management, and risk assessment activities. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills, regulatory knowledge, excellent written communication abilities, and the capability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with clients and internal teams. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAudit & Examination Management Coordinate internal, external, regulatory, IT, and cybersecurity audits. Track audit findings, recommendations, and remediation activities through completion. Assist clients with examiner requests and documentation collection. Facilitate communication between auditors, regulators, vendors, and client management. Maintain audit schedules and ensure required audits are completed on time. Prepare audit summaries, management responses, and board-reporting materials. Compliance Program Management Monitor changes to banking, information security, and privacy regulations. Analyze regulatory updates and identify impacts to client operations. Communicate regulatory changes and recommended actions to clients. Assist with the development and maintenance of compliance programs and controls. Support compliance reviews, gap assessments, and risk evaluations. Policy & Procedure Management Draft, review, update, and maintain policies and procedures for financial institution clients. Ensure policies align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational objectives. Manage annual policy review cycles and client approvals. Maintain policy inventories and document repositories. Assist management teams and boards with policy governance activities. Risk Management Support Assist with enterprise risk assessments and information security risk assessments. Support vendor management and third-party risk review activities. Maintain risk registers and corrective action plans. Track compliance and risk-related action items through completion. Prepare risk and compliance reports for executive leadership and boards of directors. Documentation & Reporting Develop compliance reports, audit tracking reports, and executive summaries. Maintain detailed records of compliance activities and regulatory updates. Assist with board packet preparation and committee reporting. Ensure client documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting community banks, credit unions, or financial institutions.
