HUD/RD/LIHTC
Compliance Specialist to ensure our housing programs adhere strictly to federal, state, and local regulations. In this vital role, you will oversee compliance with Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Rural Development (RD), and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) regulations, supporting affordable housing initiatives that serve high-risk populations and underserved communities. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of housing assistance programs, facilitate smooth property management operations, and promote fair housing practices. Duties Monitor and enforce compliance with HUD, RD, LIHTC, Section 8, Fair Housing regulations, and other relevant housing assistance programs. Conduct thorough reviews of tenant files, lease agreements, and financial documentation to ensure adherence to program requirements. Collaborate with property management teams to implement policies that promote fair housing practices and prevent discrimination. Provide guidance on landlord-tenant law, crisis intervention strategies, and addiction counseling referrals as needed to support high-risk populations. Utilize property management tools such as Yardi and OneSite for data entry, reporting, and compliance tracking. Perform regular site visits to assess property conditions, verify tenant eligibility, and address any compliance issues promptly. Engage in client communication through motivational interviewing techniques to support tenants' stability and success in housing programs. Maintain detailed records of compliance activities, incident reports, and audit documentation for internal review and external audits. Stay current on updates to HUD/Section 8 regulations and participate in ongoing training related to social services, crisis management, and fair housing laws. Qualifications Proven experience working with
HUD, RD, LIHTC
regulations or similar affordable housing programs. Strong knowledge of landlord-tenant law, fair housing regulations, and social services best practices. Excellent case management skills with experience supporting individuals from underserved or high-risk populations. Proficiency in Yardi property management software; familiarity with Microsoft Office suite is essential. Exceptional client communication skills combined with motivational interviewing techniques to foster positive tenant relationships. Ability to handle crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention training and crisis management experience. Experience working with culturally diverse communities and individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health conditions. Strong negotiation skills coupled with the ability to navigate complex situations involving high-risk populations. Knowledge of addiction counseling principles is a plus; experience working within social services frameworks is highly desirable. $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
