Responsibilities:
Prepare and/or review Regulatory filings which include those filed with the FCC, Federal and State Regulatory Agencies, and third party fund administrators for Verizon owned companies to ensure that they are accurately and timely filed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and rulings. Prepare payments and manage the liabilities and expenses related to the tax returns; work with AP, Treasury and various in-house payment systems. Analyze large volumes of data. Conduct research and appropriately apply statutes and laws to service offerings and yield correct compliance reporting and surcharge billings. Prepare tax memorandums to document issues, research and work performed, and resolutions. Review and process regulatory surcharge determinations for new charges created for customer billing. Provide surcharge estimates for Request for Proposals. Work on and manage projects that include implementation of billing solutions, cost savings strategies, and process improvements to enhance the compliance process. Work with the accounting aspect of the Regulatory function, including assistance with preparation of account reconciliations, review of accrual journal entries, and understanding and monitoring of surcharges and expenses. Research and respond to inquiries regarding surcharge application and computations on customer invoices. Compile the annual budget and monthly cash forecasts. Assist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence and computing purchase price adjustments). Ensure adherence to all SOX controls. Assist with all Regulatory related audits, as needed. Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures. What we're looking for... You'll need to have: Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience. Four or more years of relevant work experience required, demonstrated through work and/or military experience. Experience in tax, audit, or accounting. Analytical skills to interpret data trends. Advanced computer skills are required (Excel, Word, Power Point). Even better if you have one or more of the following: Regulatory experience. Experience with tax accounting, tax research, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies. Proficiency in using SQL. Understanding of tax law, compliance procedures, accrual methodology, and tax initiatives- Familiarity with the data requirements needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns (ie: knowledge of billing systems, etc.
