Grants Compliance Specialist III Sponsored Projects Accounting - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - ( 26005373 ) Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) provides post award financial management for the University's sponsored research portfolio, currently totaling approximately $1.3 billion in active federal and non-federal awards. SPA operates under a full lifecycle model, with staff managing awards from activation through closeout, and is organized under the Controller's Office. The department is responsible for financial compliance, reporting, subrecipient monitoring, and effort reporting in accordance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and Cost Accounting Standards. Job Summary Supports grant operations by monitoring and executing multiple, complex federal compliance requirements related to sponsored research awards across the University. Assesses current practices, collects information, and analyzes data to determine organizational objectives. Designs new projects/programs and makes recommendations to improve systems and processes. Responsible for the department's monthly newsletter, managing and updating electronic applications as needed, and acting as a primary contact for inquiries from internal departments and outside institutions. Essential Functions Supports post award operations by analyzing multiple, complex compliance requirements and applying them to grant administration processes Conducts audits of grant related processes and transactions to confirm compliance with applicable policies and regulations Executes complex management reports to verify compliance and confirm the integrity of departmental data, using tools such as Excel, Access, and Alteryx Monitors ongoing operation of departmental applications to confirm systems are functioning properly, identifies areas for improvement, and maintains and audits system security Monitors the department help email account and responds to inquiries related to applications, effort certification, cost sharing, and general effort reporting Serves as a technical resource on compliance systems and reporting for departmental staff and stakeholders Physical Effort Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
