Please Note:

We are ideally looking to fill this position with a candidate living in or near Washington County, as they will regularly be working out in the community. The Food Bank is located in Duquesne, but this positions primary work location would be remote and out in the community in Washington.

Job summary:

The Southwest PA Specialist is a local resident of Washington County who has a passion for improving food security. The Specialist will work directly with our partners in Washington County and will support to our Collective Impact Initiatives and Food Recovery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary point person for our partners in Washington County. Provide excellent customer service and support to our partner network by:

• Steward partners through the transition of SFPP and TEFAP contracts
• Respond to questions professionally and in a timely manner
• Assist partners with technology tools and programmatic questions Ensure partners meet compliance policies and requirements by:
• Communicating all policies, procedures and standards effectively
• Conduct frequent site visits with partners, including one annual monitoring visit
• Monitor, track and address compliance requirements
• Field, investigate and resolve complaints
• Enforce corrective actions for identified compliance issues
• Monitor partner reporting and ensure data is accurate
• Maintain accurate, complete and updated partner records
• Ensure partner compliance with the Food Bank's training requirements Identify and steward opportunities for growth and capacity building
• Encourage utilization of the Food Bank's impact grant program
• Identify, encourage and implement neighbor-centered practices
• Identify gaps in service and participate in the evaluation and onboarding of new partners Act as the project manager for new initiatives that develop within the County as part of the Food Bank's strategic plan and operational response plan efforts Work closely with and support the Collective Impact Specialist assigned to Washington County by:
• Supporting the scheduling and facilitation of working group meetings
• Coordinating and facilitating subcommittee meetings Support the Food Recovery Team in the expansion of food recovery programming and coordination in Washington County.
• Support other Food Bank programs teams as needed, including:
• Providing onsite and/or planning support for distributions
• Conducting SNAP outreach
• Supporting child nutrition programs and outreach
• Providing SNAP application assistance Other duties as assigned.

Required characteristics, abilities and skills: Resident of Washington County; position will be based out of and fully immersed within that county, with some potential for travel and support across our service area. Deep passion for eliminating hunger and its root causes. Passion for economic, social and racial justice issues. Outstanding interpersonal skills: good listener and thoughtful respondent; positive influencer. Demonstrated conflict management skills. Disposition and willingness to innovate, problem solve, test, fail and adjust. Project coordination and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; meet deadlines, ability to handle interruptions, and produce timely, accurate work.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience, and previous Human Service experience preferred. Minimum of five years' experience working with planning and consulting. Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service to diverse populations—including seniors, volunteers, and others. Impeccable organizational, clerical, and communication skills. First-hand, in-depth knowledge of the communities within Washington County. Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Demonstrated experience with conflict management. Experience working cooperatively within and across teams; belief in the value and power of participatory decision-making. Valid driver's license. Ability to obtain Act 33 & Act 34
