This position assists in the development and implementation of MSA's Compliance & Ethics Program. The Compliance Officer collaborates with the Compliance Committee to review and evaluate compliance and ethics matters, communicates compliance recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval, and ensures all compliance decisions and communications receive Board approval prior to distribution to MSA staff and operating divisions.
Responsibilities:
Carries out all duties of the Compliance and Ethics Program (the Program) as assigned by the Compliance Committee and approved by the Board of Directors to manages the day-to-day operation of the Program. Periodically reviews and recommends updates for Program, policies and procedures, and the general operation of the Program to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Establishes and provides direction and management of the compliance Hotline through the chain of command. Works with the Human Resources department and others as appropriate to ensure all employees receive introductory Compliance training and ongoing training as appropriate. Acts as an internal resource for the Compliance Committee with which concerned parties may communicate after other formal channels and resources have been exhausted. Provides ongoing reports of the compliance/ethics issues to the Board of Directors. Acts as a resource for the Board and senior leadership team on matters relating to compliance. Participates with the Compliance Committee and MSA general counsel, to obtain interpretations of any requirements under the program that are unclear, vague or which is believed to be void, outdated or unworkable. Works with the Compliance Committee and the Board of Directors to promote and maintain an effective compliance communication program for MSA which includes promoting (a) use of the compliance Hotline, (b) heightened awareness of Standards of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures. Reports to the Compliance Committee and/or Board of Directors alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct. Collaborates with the Compliance Committee to direct compliance issues to the Board of Directors for appropriate resources for investigation and resolution. Implements Board approved corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues. Works with the Compliance Committee to develop internal surveys, audits and probes to identify trends and outcomes for improvement. Ensures proper reporting of violations to the Compliance Committee and the Board of Directors. Insures that all developments and changes in relevant state and federal statutes, regulations and court rulings are monitored that may affect the terms of the Ethics Program and to bring all such changes in the law to the attention of the Compliance Committee and Board of Directors. Monitors the performance and activities of the Compliance & Ethics Program on a continuing basis and makes recommendations to take appropriate steps to improve effectiveness. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 5 years experience in a healthcare organization. Familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance and human resource procedures and regulations a must. Certified Health Care Compliance Officer certification required.
