Job Description

Summary The City of Lancaster is seeking a knowledgeable, dependable, and community-focused professional to serve as Senior Code Compliance Officer . This position performs a variety of code compliance inspections and investigations related to residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The Senior Code Compliance Officer also serves in a lead role by supporting staff assignments, monitoring performance, and helping ensure high-quality service and enforcement throughout the community. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in the field, responding to citizen concerns, maintaining accurate records, and helping uphold community standards through fair, professional, and consistent code enforcement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities May include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform a variety of code compliance inspections involving residential, commercial, and industrial properties Investigate citizen complaints regarding potential code violations Serve as the lead staff person for commercial code enforcement, including enforcement of IPMC standards, abandoned signs, and general upkeep of commercial property Inspect and survey public and private property for nuisances, sewage, trash, debris, and other unsanitary conditions Use computer systems to access citizen information for notices, contracts, and citations Prepare correspondence outlining code regulations, violations, and required corrective action Maintain accurate records and reports related to inspections, surveillance activities, and enforcement efforts Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner Testify in court, as necessary, regarding code compliance violations Document daily activities and maintain complete and accurate case records Be available for emergency after-hours inspections as needed Assign code officers to designated districts and track performance by conducting quality checks Support supervision and daily coordination of code compliance officers Perform other related duties as assigned Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required Supervisory experience required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Texas Class C driver's license required Certification as a registered Code Compliance Officer in the State of Texas required
