The Village of Bellevue is seeking a motivated and dependable Stormwater/Code Compliance & Education Officer to join our Community Development and Public Works teams. This unique position plays an important role in maintaining the quality of life Bellevue residents and businesses value. The successful candidate will work directly with residents and property owners to provide education, address property maintenance and code compliance concerns, conduct inspections, and help achieve voluntary compliance whenever possible. The position also supports the Village's stormwater management program and environmental compliance efforts. What You'll Do Educate residents and property owners about Village ordinances and help resolve code compliance concerns. Conduct field inspections related to property maintenance, long grass, snow removal, brush and garbage, signs, junk and debris, vehicles, trailers, and other quality-of-life regulations. Communicate with homeowners, landlords, tenants, businesses, and other community members to identify practical solutions and achieve compliance. Prepare compliance notices, violation letters, citations, reports, and other documentation. Work collaboratively with Community Development, Public Works, the Village Attorney, elected officials, and other Village staff. Assist with the Village's stormwater management and MS4 permit requirements. Review site plans and stormwater management plans for compliance with Village requirements. Assist with erosion control inspections, illicit discharge investigations, outfall testing, sampling, and required reporting. Maintain accurate records, photographs, reports, and case documentation. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is approachable, professional, organized, and comfortable working independently. Because this position interacts with the public daily, we're looking for someone who can communicate clearly, remain calm in challenging situations, and work cooperatively with residents to resolve concerns. Successful candidates should also be comfortable interpreting ordinances, policies, regulations, construction plans, GIS mapping, and other technical information; documenting their work thoroughly; conducting research; and managing multiple cases and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; post-high school education preferred. Valid Wisconsin driver's license. Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience in zoning, inspections, utility review, law enforcement, code compliance, or a related field is preferred. Schedule & Work Environment Typical work hours align with Village Hall hours: 7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m.-Noon Friday , with occasional evening meetings.
