Job Description

Job Summary West Texas State Bank is seeking a credit analyst to join our team. In this role, you will evaluate the creditworthiness and financial strength of individuals or businesses to determine lending risk and make recommendations on loan approvals, credit limits, and terms. Your expertise will help guide lending decisions, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with banking regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial concepts, and excellent client communication abilities to support our strategic growth and risk management objectives. Responsibilities Analyze financial statements, cash flow, balance sheets, income statements, and credit reports. Assess borrowers' ability to repay loans and identify potential credit risks. Prepare credit analysis, loan underwriting, and credit approval recommendations. Review loan applications and supporting financial documentation. Calculate and evaluate financial ratios, debt-service coverage, leverage, liquidity, and profitability. Monitor existing loan portfolios for changes in borrower performance and credit risk. Recommend appropriate loan structures, collateral requirements, covenants, and credit limits. Conduct industry and market research to understand business and economic risks. Prepare credit memos and present recommendations to senior credit officers or loan committees. Ensure lending decisions comply with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and risk-management standards. Work with relationship managers, commercial bankers, loan officers, and risk teams. Document imaging and monitoring proficiency Record Minutes of Loan Committee Meetings Work with Credit Administration on Special Projects Requirements Experience in financial analysis, credit analysis, or commercial lending within a banking or financial services environment. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field. Strong financial statement and credit analysis skills. Knowledge of commercial lending, loan underwriting, and credit risk. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and financial modeling. Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, and writing skills. Attention to detail and ability to make sound risk-based decisions. This is a full-time position in our Lubbock, TX office. Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional extended hours as necessary.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
