Virginia Mirror Company, 100 year old company is seeking an experienced Credit professional with proven leadership skills for the position of Credit Manager, based in Martinsville Virginia.

The Credit Manager is responsible for managing the company's credit and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely customer payments, minimize credit risk, and maintain a healthy cash flow. This position establishes and monitors customer credit limits, evaluates creditworthiness, oversees collections, resolves account discrepancies, and works closely with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Accounting to support profitable customer relationships. The Credit Manager will establish sound credit practices while balancing appropriate risk management with the company's sales and customer service objectives.
The Responsibilities Include:
Establish, review, and maintain credit limits and payment terms for new and existing customers. Evaluate customer credit applications, financial information, payment history, and credit reports. Conduct periodic credit reviews and adjust credit limits based on changes in customer financial condition and payment performance. Monitor customer accounts for credit exposure, past-due balances, and potential risk. Approve credit within established company authority levels and escalate exceptions as appropriate. Develop and maintain credit policies and procedures consistent with company objectives. Recommend appropriate credit terms, deposits, guarantees, or other risk-mitigation measures when necessary. Oversee the collection of outstanding customer balances and ensure accounts are followed up on consistently. Monitor aging reports and develop collection strategies for delinquent accounts. Contact customers regarding past-due invoices and negotiate payment arrangements when appropriate. Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities and customer commitments. Escalate seriously delinquent or high-risk accounts to management and recommend placement with outside collection agencies or legal counsel when appropriate. Work with Accounts Receivable personnel to ensure accurate and timely application of customer payments. Identify trends in delinquent accounts and recommend corrective actions. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, construction, glass, building products. Experience managing credit accounts with significant customer balances. Familiarity with commercial credit reporting services. 2+ years of experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or financial management. Experience evaluating customer creditworthiness and managing credit risk. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle difficult collection conversations professionally and effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound business judgment.
