About the role: You will coordinate import functions including clearance for cargo shipments through appropriate government agencies for the customers of a third-party logistics company. Cargo will ship from destinations overseas via ocean carriers to US ports. You will arrange logistical transportation services for US inland freight moves. You will provide detailed, accurate follow-through with a sense of urgency for each shipment, working closely with associates, carriers, vendors, and customers. This is not a hands-on-the-freight role. This is a desk job and the person in this role arranges the transportation of freight for US importers. If you have superior administrative office skills, possibly accounting skills, are organized, are good with Microsoft Excel and numbers, you might fit well in this role. Professional communication skills are key (verbal and written) because you will be representing our company on the phone and by email daily. For this role, you will ideally already have two or more years of related experience in a similar import specialist position.
