Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Branch Manager Valley Stream, NY | Full-Time, On-Site Company Overview Altius Talent is partnering with a long-established, independent customs brokerage and freight forwarding company with a national presence at major U.S. ports and gateways. Known for a personal, relationship-driven approach, they are seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to lead their Valley Stream branch. Position Overview The Branch Manager will oversee all day-to-day operations of the Valley Stream office, with a strong focus on customs brokerage compliance, team leadership, and customer relationships. This is a hands-on leadership role for a licensed broker who can manage entry filing, mentor staff, and grow the branch's book of business while ensuring full adherence to CBP regulations. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the branch team, including customs entry writers, operations staff, and administrative personnel Serve as the Licensed Customs Broker of record for the branch, ensuring all filings comply with CBP, PGA, and other regulatory requirements Review and approve entries, classifications (HTS), valuations, and country of origin determinations Oversee ISF filings, ACE/ABI transmissions, and post-entry processes, including PSCs, protests, and liquidation monitoring Maintain strong client relationships and act as the primary escalation point for complex customs and compliance issues Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, quoting, and onboarding importers Monitor branch KPIs, including entry volume, turnaround times, accuracy, and profitability Ensure adherence to internal compliance programs, recordkeeping requirements, and audit readiness Coordinate with other branches, forwarding operations, and carriers to ensure seamless shipment execution Train and develop staff on customs regulations, system usage, and best practices Stay current on tariff changes, trade programs, and regulatory updates (Section 301, AD/CVD, USMCA, etc.) and communicate impacts to clients and team Key Skills & Qualifications Active U.S. Customs Broker License (required) 7+ years of customs brokerage experience, with prior supervisory or management experience preferred Strong knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, ACE, and PGA requirements (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.) Hands-on experience with CargoWise or a comparable customs/forwarding platform Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment Solid understanding of freight forwarding workflows (ocean, air, and Incoterms) and how they interface with brokerage Excellent client-facing communication and problem-solving skills Business development or P&L exposure a plus Strong organizational skills with a compliance-first mindset What's on Offer Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentive Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)) Paid time off and holidays Leadership role with real ownership of a branch and room for long-term career growth Stable, established organization with a collaborative, experienced team Interested?
