Job Title:
Ocean Export Agent Job Description The role of the Ocean Export Agent is to ensure the timely and accurate movement of freight and information while delivering exceptional customer service within the Ocean Export Department. You will be working exclusively with one of the largest customers, handling over 20,000 shipments annually. Responsibilities Approve shipments for delivery to the destination. Manage and handle cargo once it sails from the appropriate port. Enter and manage heavy documentation for each assigned shipment. Ensure compliance with country-specific guidelines and policies. Enter extensive data into the system, including shipments, departures/arrivals, cargo, and deliveries. Utilize Excel for daily workload management and tracking loads/shipments. Handle minimal phone calls, approximately 5 per week. Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow. Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system. Track and trace Ocean Export Files and report accordingly. Use the Global Ocean Export Monitor daily. Ensure documents are sent on time and shipping notices are communicated to overseas and customers. Ensure accurate and timely client and vendor billing. Interact with customers to arrange international shipments, meeting customer service standards. Maintain good relationships with suppliers, including ocean carriers and trucking companies. Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations in accordance with government guidelines. Understand department process flow and seek best practices to improve operational efficiency and productivity. Ensure customer standard operating procedures are in place and updated in Customer SOP. Meet KPI standards according to company procedures. Communicate effectively with overseas contacts, providing timely responses to emails and requests. Escalate problems to management when necessary. Promote compliance by diligently following company policies and regulations, performing tasks with integrity and pride. Complete 52 hours of training per year and attend mandatory training classes when required. Essential Skills Proficient in computer usage, particularly Excel and typing with a speed of 35+ wpm. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related fields. Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Strong organizational skills and proactive approach. Fluent in English. Good Microsoft Office skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Understanding of ocean documentation process is a plus. Hazardous Materials certification (preferred). Veterans are highly encouraged to apply. Work Environment The work environment is a professional office setting with an open cubicle layout, accommodating over 200 employees. Working hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with 26 work-from-home days available per year as decided by the manager. A professional dress code is required, with specific guidelines for appropriate business attire for both men and women. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bensenville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
