About the Role The Corporate Controller directly supervises the accounting and financial functions of the organization, including accounting staff, A/P, A/R, and payroll. This role also manages employee relations matters, ensures work deadlines are met, and coordinates all governmental, financial, and insurance audits. The Controller directs the organization's financial activities—personally and through subordinate supervisors—manages the accounting department, liaises with senior leadership on key financial matters, and partners with other departments on budget planning. This position requires strong technical accounting experience to direct the timely, accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, operational analyses, and reporting. Scope includes general accounting, financial analysis, revenue accounting, A/P, A/R, payroll, and fixed asset accounting. The ideal candidate applies sound accounting rigor while recommending strategies to improve financial performance, including technology upgrades and process improvements. Familiarity with construction industry revenue recognition standards is important. Responsibilities Prepare reports summarizing and forecasting business activity and financial position (income, expenses, earnings) Partner with the CFO and senior leaders on operational and strategic issues Oversee the Accounting and Project Controls teams Promote a framework driving financial accountability across the organization Provide timely, meaningful analyses and reporting to operational leaders Develop and maintain the internal control environment Manage tax administration and compliance Accumulate and consolidate financial data for accurate, timely business results Oversee annual insurance renewal and maintain appropriate coverage Coordinate with the IT Manager on accounting software systems, processes, and workflows Participate in budget preparation, review proposals, and prepare supporting documentation Evaluate accounting-related processes to ensure smooth operations Oversee cost accounting duties, including periodic review of construction draws and invoices; resolve delinquent invoice issues Oversee monthly vendor financial statements reflecting outstanding invoices Manage banking functions, including account changes and dual system administration for online banking access Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting reviews with senior management and staff Supervise staff: training, duty assignment, issue resolution, and payroll approval for 250+ employees Recommend modifications to corporate finance/monetary programs Direct depreciation rate determinations for capital assets Arrange company account audits Manage system issues across JD Edwards, BuilderTrend, and QuickBooks, including training and security setup Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance (required) CPA preferred; MBA preferred Minimum 8 years of construction accounting experience Minimum 3-5 years of experience as Controller or Assistant Controller 7-10 years of supervisory experience, managing 10+ clerical and professional staff Advanced Excel and IT skills a plus Strong audit background Construction/swimming pool industry knowledge a plus Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills Proven ability to build relationships and drive business performance through management Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio) Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable recommendations Strong project management skills and business acumen Ability to adapt communication style across audiences and build relationships with senior management Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Pay:

$120,000.00 - $139,000.00 per year
