  • Director
  • / •Vice President of Accounting•to join our executive leadership team as a strategic financial partner to the President and operational leaders.
This is a highly visible, on-site leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting functions while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and a collaborative partner to project management. Unlike a traditional CFO role, this position focuses primarily on accounting leadership, financial reporting, project accounting, and operational support. Corporate banking relationships, treasury functions, financing, and insurance administration are managed by the parent organization, allowing this role to concentrate on financial performance, construction accounting, and organizational leadership. + Partner closely with operations to monitor project performance, ensuring alignment between financials and project timelines + Collaborate directly with the President on financial strategy, business planning, and day-to-day operations + Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, including annual operating and capital budgets + Maintain and enhance construction accounting practices, including WIP reporting, percentage of completion, and job costing analysis + Ensure strong cash flow management aligned with operational needs + Develop and implement financial controls, systems, and best practices to support a scalable and disciplined organization + Foster clear communication between finance and operations, translating financial data into actionable insights + Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements + Analyze business performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies for growth and cost optimization + Oversee union payroll processes and related benefit structures + Lead and develop the accounting team (2 direct reports; 12 indirect reports) + Manage financial systems and support continuous improvement of financial technology and reporting tools
  • What You'll Need to Bring
  • + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 10+ years of
  • progressive
  • accounting and financial experience.
+ Recent and relative leadership experience. + Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams and developing staff. + Strong background in construction or project-based accounting. + Thorough understanding of: + Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting + Percentage-of-completion accounting + Job costing + Contract accounting + Experience partnering closely with operations and project management teams. + Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills. + High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Ideally, You'll have
  • + CPA strongly preferred. + 3-5 years of public accounting experience, preferably with audit exposure. + Experience transitioning from public accounting into private industry. + Experience within commercial construction, specialty contracting, or industrial services. + MBA or CMA is a plus.
