This role demands a self-starting, highly motivated individual who will drive Akima's growth by developing and executing an integrated Indo-Pacific growth strategy, leading large-scale (>$250M) full-and-open business pursuits, and connecting Akima's diverse capabilities to emerging operational, posture, sustainment, readiness, infrastructure, and mission support requirements across the theater. Based in Hawaii, this senior leader will leverage Akima's complete portfolio to strengthen account penetration, build and maintain a qualified pipeline, and enhance the company's competitive positioning across U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), its component commands, and associated Pacific and Arctic power-projection, homeland defense, and mission support markets. Geographic priorities include Hawaii, Alaska, the Second Island Chain (e.g., Guam), Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, and other key locations throughout the region. The ideal candidate will possess extensive Federal business development and capture experience, a strong record of leading large and complex pursuits, deep relationships across the Indo-Pacific operational and acquisition ecosystem, and the ability to mobilize cross-functional teams. The successful candidate must understand how theater-generated requirements connect to the Service headquarters, program executive offices, acquisition commands, contracting organizations, and budget stakeholders that translate those needs into funded programs. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this role will serve as Akima's enterprise growth and capture lead for this strategically important market, with responsibility for theater portfolio shaping, qualified pipeline development, cross-company integration, and priority capture execution. The role will focus particularly on enterprise-scale opportunities that integrate multiple Akima capabilities or lack a natural owner within a single business group. The successful candidate must combine a broad enterprise and theater perspective with a hands-on, action-oriented approach to business development and capture and be equally comfortable formulating long-range market strategies, developing new customer and industry relationships, and personally leading the detailed execution of multiple major pursuits through award and transition. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and execute an integrated Akima growth strategy for the Indo-Pacific theater and associated Pacific and Arctic power-projection, homeland defense, and mission support markets. Identify priority customers, missions, locations, acquisition organizations, contract vehicles, competitors, partners, internal capability gaps, investment requirements, and addressable opportunities. Identify new business pursuits that can inject step-function growth by leveraging Akima's portfolio across facilities and installation support; base operations; contested logistics and sustainment; supply chain operations; information technology; C5ISR; resilient communications; training and readiness; exercises and experimentation; range support; systems engineering; mission operations; and other services supporting distributed operations in remote, austere, and contested environments. Build, qualify, and maintain a pipeline of strategic Indo-Pacific opportunities generally valued at $250 million or more that aligns with Akima's growth priorities and financial objectives and supports bookings and revenue growth. Lead multiple concurrent priority captures from qualification through award and transition, including customer engagement, competitive assessment, acquisition shaping, win and solution strategy, teaming, staffing, pricing, proposal readiness, executive and color team reviews, orals, and post-submission activities. Identify enterprise-scale and cross-company opportunities that cut across Akima's traditional capability and operating company boundaries and ensure they are evaluated and pursued through an integrated enterprise approach rather than as isolated requirements. Convene subject matter experts to integrate company solutions, relationships, geographic presence, contract vehicles, and past performance into differentiated offerings, compelling value propositions, and executable win strategies. Formulate integrated, enterprise-scale offerings reflective of Akima's diverse capabilities by bridging company solutions, relationships, subject matter expertise, contract vehicles, geographic presence, and past performance. Identify new offerings, markets, contract vehicles, and capabilities that sustain long-term competitive differentiation. Catalog internal gaps and recommend M&A, IR D, strategic hiring, technology investment, or partnerships to accelerate market penetration. Develop and maintain relationships with senior military, civilian, operational, program management, requirements, acquisition, contracting, and budget stakeholders within and outside the theater, as well as industry partners, to identify emerging requirements, gain actionable market intelligence, and position Akima well in advance of formal solicitations. Shape acquisition strategies and requirements through sustained customer engagement, responses to market research, industry and exercise participation, contract vehicle positioning, experimentation engagement, and strategic partnerships. Identify prospective teammates and support negotiation of teaming agreements, workshare arrangements, joint ventures, mentor-protégé relationships, and other pursuit-specific partnerships. Develop and brief qualification, pursuit, investment, and bid/no-bid recommendations to executive leadership. Manage capture plans, schedules, resources, consultants, milestones, and approved B&P budgets, collaborating with operations, technical, pricing, contracts, legal, recruiting, finance, competitive intelligence, and proposal teams to develop compelling, compliant, executable, and competitively priced proposals. Coordinate with Akima's capability-oriented Strategic Capture leaders, Group-aligned growth executives, and operations to align customer engagement and market strategies, establish clear pursuit ownership, and deploy enterprise capture resources effectively. Stay abreast of national security strategy, force posture and Service investment decisions, theater campaign plans, appropriations, acquisition trends, competitors, emerging technologies, and geopolitical developments affecting the market. Represent Akima at customer meetings, industry events, exercises, conferences, and regional forums. Support the Chief Growth Officer in determining accountable capture leadership for opportunities that cross geographic and capability portfolios, considering customer ownership, acquisition responsibility, predominant solution requirements, internal capabilities, and the leadership approach most likely to maximize pWin. Qualifications Ten or more years of progressive Federal business development and capture experience, including significant DoD experience and deep knowledge of the Federal acquisition process, the FAR, DoD acquisition practices, contract vehicles, acquisition trends, and customer buying behaviors. Strong record of identifying, shaping, capturing, and winning large (>$250M), complex Federal pursuits using cross-functional and operationally federated teams. Recent, relevant wins within the Indo-Pacific or adjacent national security markets are strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and executing growth strategies and capture campaigns for US INDOPACOM, its components, or related national security organizations, supported by deep, active, and recent relationships across the Indo-Pacific operational, acquisition, and industry ecosystem. Must understand how theater-generated requirements connect to the Service headquarters, program executive offices, acquisition and contracting commands, and budget stakeholders responsible for funding and executing procurements. Demonstrated knowledge of Indo-Pacific force posture, distributed operations, contested logistics, installation and infrastructure requirements, exercises and experimentation, coalition interoperability, and operations across remote and austere locations. Knowledge of Alaska's role in Pacific power projection, Arctic operations, homeland defense, missile warning and defense, training, logistics, infrastructure, and mission support is strongly preferred. Knowledge of major competitors in the Indo-Pacific Federal market and demonstrated ability to assess their positioning, strategies, strengths, and vulnerabilities and develop effective counter-positioning. Robust experience managing the full opportunity lifecycle, including qualification, pipeline development, customer and partner relationship management, solution development, capture and teaming strategy, pricing, staffing, proposal development, reviews, orals, clarifications, award, and transition. Exceptional matrixed leadership, team orchestration, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to integrate capabilities and past performance across operating companies, establish a clear pursuit vision, influence stakeholders, and hold teams accountable. Must be a strategic, analytical, and innovative thinker able to manage multiple priorities and customer relationships across a geographically dispersed environment. Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, National Security, International Relations, Logistics, Operations, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Relevant military service, Government experience, or directly applicable experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
