Job Description

Position Summary The Controller oversees the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls, partnering with leadership to ensure accurate financial information and a scalable accounting function for a growing, fast-moving organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with real estate, title, and/or construction industry experience, equally comfortable managing daily operations and contributing to financial strategy, with the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Process

▸ Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.

▸ Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.

▸ Analyze financial results and partner with leadership and department heads on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, providing insights that support strategic decision-making. Accounting Operations

▸ Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

▸ Manage cash flow monitoring, forecasting, and banking relationships.

▸ Maintain and improve accounting systems, tools, processes, and documented policies/procedures to support a growing organization.

▸ Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and relationships with outside accountants or auditors.

▸ Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure data integrity, and mitigate financial and operational risk.

▸ Oversee job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction draw processes for development projects.

▸ Manage accounting for real estate transactions and title/closing activity, including escrow reconciliations and revenue recognition. Team Leadership & Development

▸ Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, establishing workflows and crosstraining plans that build growth paths and reduce key-person risk.

▸ Foster a collaborative, high-accountability culture within the finance and accounting function. At a Glance Real estate, title & construction accounting 5-10+ years, supervisory experience CPA preferred Qualifications

▸Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.

▸5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a supervisory or manager-level role.

▸Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

▸Real estate, title, and/or construction accounting experience strongly preferred (job costing, WIP, percentage-ofcompletion, draws, title/closing).

▸Proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems required; QuickBooks strongly preferred.

▸Strong communication and organizational skills; thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. What Success Looks Like
