Job Description
Financial Aid Specialist-Data Analyst Salary $45,000.00
- $51,750.
FAFSA/ISIR
file batches from federal databases connected to the FSA partner portal into the Institutional student information system database known as Ellucian/Colleague. The incumbent is also responsible for performing basic functions within the Financial Aid office to include answering basic inquiries, such as starting the financial aid process; disseminating financial aid information, forms, instructions to students, staff, faculty, & constituents; data entry; providing information at the reception; answering phones; filing documents. Example of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:- Imports financial aid applications from the federal database for financial aid processing; manages file batches and forwards

import list and DOEI reports to appropriate staff for review while exporting corrections as needed.- Assigns cost of attendance budgets to the
FAFSA/ISIR
batch files by running the Colleague SBGT process to ensure all imported students are package ready.- Assigns & sends doc tracking notification letters to student applicants who are missing information on a 15, 30 and 45 day schedule by pushing notifications out through the Colleague/Ellucian software.
- Reviews SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) statuses on imported files and runs SAP calculations as needed to ensure eligible academic standing is in place on FASI to prepare file for packaging or appeal option.
- Manages TEAM IA e-filing cabinets for financial aid applicants and serves as the office liaison for our TEAM IA vendor. The Financial Aid Specialist-Data Analyst will serve as the (POC) point of contact to begin service escalations with our IT team and file vendor.
- Serves as the financial aid (POC) point of contact for the FA-Link which is a two way software interface that connects the Colleges student information system (Colleague) with the campus bookstore (BibliU).
- Manages and exports the purge/drop list circulated from the Registrar after registration to distinguish
FAFSA/ISIR
students whose late files are eligible for review or package ready. Oversee the creation of a SLED list from Colleague and place the list in informer to determine who from the purge list has an eligible FAFSA/ISIR and SAP status. The list will be exported to create a shared spreadsheet for team review.- Assist with front-desk activities to include: greeting visitors; answering phones; providing information and materials to student, staff, faculty, and other constituents regarding standard processes and procedures, related to assigned area of responsibility; directing students and visitors to appropriate specialist offices, campus departments or resources; and scheduling appointments.
- Coordinates electronic application, scanning, tracking and e-filing of Special Circumstances documents and SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) appeals packets for processing and storage into the TEAM IA file management system.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Duties include all of the above but are not limited to performing administrative services such as general reception duties for the Financial Aid Office at the front desk. Some evening work may be required throughout the week and during peak seasons and/or special occasions (Ex:
Open House, Registration, SAP, Purge etc.) Typical Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience; Individuals with an associate degree or diploma in Information Technology, Systems Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Math or related field. Bachelor's preferred. Candidate should have experience working in a people-oriented setting, preferably a financial aid office. Strong administrative, organizational and customer service skills are important. Knowledge of office-related software. Work experience in financial aid is a plus. Experience with Colleague, Informer, FA-Link, Team IA, Element 451 or other student information system. Experience 1-3 years of experience in financial aid, preferably with federal processing or work experience and/or coursework related to accounting, bookkeeping and data entry.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None Technical Proficiency:
