Job Description

The Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller serves Leon County residents by supporting court operations, processing and recording judicial orders, and safeguarding public records and funds. Starting Salary Notice:
Initial appointments are typically made at or near the minimum of the approved pay range, consistent with budget authorization and internal equity.
Position Overview:
The Financial Analyst performs professional-level financial analysis, evaluation, and operational support activities within an assigned functional area. The role supports financial operations by analyzing transactions, identifying discrepancies, preparing reports, and providing insight to support accurate financial management and decision-making in accordance with established accounting standards and governing requirements. This classification supports multiple financial functions including payroll processing support, tax deed financial activity, financial reconciliation, and treasury operations. This recruitment is intended to fill a primary assignment in payroll. The position applies professional judgment in evaluating financial information, identifying issues, and developing recommendations within assigned areas but does not establish organizational financial policy. Authority includes analytical evaluation and operational financial support within delegated parameters. Financial Analysis & Evaluation Analyzes financial transactions, balances, trends, and variances within assigned functional areas. Identifies discrepancies, researches issues, and develops recommendations to support accurate financial operations. Operational & Analytical Support Supports daily financial operations within assigned areas including payroll, tax deeds, reconciliation, or treasury functions. Reviews financial activity for accuracy and completeness, assists in resolving discrepancies, and ensures compliance with established procedures and internal controls. Reporting & Monitoring Prepares reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Monitors financial activity and identifies issues requiring escalation or corrective action. Operational Coverage & Collaboration Maintains working familiarity across financial functions to support operational continuity. Primary assignments may vary based on operational needs but remain within the Financial Analyst classification and defined authority. Professional Financial Knowledge Knowledge of financial analysis principles, budgeting concepts, forecasting methods, and governmental financial practices. Analytical Reasoning Ability to evaluate financial data, identify trends, and develop projections and recommendations. Advisory Communication Ability to present financial information clearly to management and non-financial personnel. Judgment & Decision Support Ability to apply professional judgment and advise leadership on financial implications of decisions. Strategic Perspective Ability to evaluate financial impacts in relation to organizational priorities. Required Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field. Required Experience Experience performing financial analysis,reconciliation, payroll processing support, treasury functions, tax deed financial activities, or related financial operations. Required Licensure or Certification None required. Equivalent combination of education and professional analytical experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting payroll processing, payroll reconciliation, or payroll-related financial activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office environment and may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and handling files or materials up to approximately 20 pounds. Schedule flexibility may be required during budget cycles or fiscal reporting periods in accordance with organizational policies.
