Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to provide support in the procurement and accounts payable area, as well as offer financial assistance with daily office tasks, record keeping, reconciling and a variety of data entry of financial documents. This position will work in collaboration with internal staff, vendors and third-party entities to maintain and ensure daily financial transactions are accurately and timely processed and recorded necessary for fiscal management. Position will also track American Correctional Association compliance and submission of documents from all Regions to ensure compliance. How does it get done?

  • Ensure required documentation is received and verified before processing inmate financial transactions
  • Review transactions for documentation of obligation, payment authorization, timely payment and accurate recording
  • Communicate with vendors and clients
  • Review, audit and pay invoices against approved purchase documents Who are the customers?

  • Per-diem and mileage
  • Financial reconciliations
  • General Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Compliance with accepted accounting principles and standards Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and/or finance.

Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. May be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
