Estimated at 6+ months The Opportunity Our client, a large, well known Financial Services institution in downtown Chicago, IL is seeking an Investment Analytics Associate to join its team on a long-term consulting basis. This is a strong opportunity for someone with a background in investment performance, portfolio analytics, attribution, or risk analytics who enjoys digging into data, identifying anomalies, and translating complex investment information into meaningful insights for portfolio and investment teams. The Investment Analytics Associate will support the delivery of performance, attribution, risk, and portfolio analytics across multiple investment strategies. A major component of the role involves working with investment and market data from platforms such as Bloomberg and State Street, analyzing monthly portfolio performance, investigating breaks or anomalies, identifying patterns within the data, and helping determine appropriate resolutions. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, technically capable, and naturally curious-not someone who simply produces a report, but someone who asks why the numbers look the way they do. Key Responsibilities

  • Own recurring production of investment performance, attribution, and portfolio analytics reporting
  • Analyze monthly performance data and investigate discrepancies, breaks, and unusual trends
  • Identify drivers of portfolio performance and attribution results
  • Analyze and interpret portfolio risk characteristics and attribution factors
  • Respond to portfolio analytics and data requests from investment, client, and marketing teams
  • Work with Bloomberg, State Street, and other investment analytics/data platforms
  • Develop a strong understanding of investment strategies and proactively identify anomalies within portfolio data
  • Partner with Portfolio Management, Operations, IT, and Data Management to improve data quality and analytics capabilities
  • Create customized portfolio analytics and reporting for internal analysis and client-facing discussions
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and scale existing analytics processes
  • Contribute to project-based analysis as knowledge of the investment strategies and systems develops Qualifications ?

3-5 years of experience in investment performance, performance measurement, attribution, portfolio analytics, investment analytics, or risk analysis ? Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities ? Advanced Excel skills required ? Experience working with investment data and financial systems ? Understanding of capital markets and the investment management industry ? Ability to calculate, analyze, and explain investment performance ? Strong attention to detail and ability to identify patterns and anomalies within large data sets ? Proactive mindset with the ability to investigate issues rather than simply identify them ? Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience

  • Bloomberg and/or State Street experience
  • Fixed income investment knowledge
  • Exposure to derivatives, including swaps, futures, and options
  • Performance attribution and portfolio risk analytics
  • VBA, SQL, or similar analytical/automation tools
  • FactSet or comparable portfolio analytics platforms
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline
  • CFA coursework or interest in pursuing the CFA designation
