This is not a traditional accounting position, and it is not a traditional paralegal position. You'll work at the intersection of construction, accounting, project coordination, and litigation support , helping manage the financial and administrative details behind complex construction-related litigation and claims across multiple states. You'll work with executives, project managers, attorneys, consultants, and accounting professionals—and you'll become one of the people they depend on to know where things stand. If you naturally dig into information, notice discrepancies others miss, keep track of multiple deadlines, and take satisfaction in getting the details exactly right, this may be an excellent fit. What You'll Own Litigation Project & Financial Coordination Help manage active construction litigation and claims from setup through resolution. You'll establish new matters, maintain project and financial records, track deadlines and costs, and make sure the right information gets to the right people at the right time. Billing & Cost Analysis Own the financial details behind litigation projects, including: Project expenses and vendor invoices Time entries and labor costs Travel and reimbursable expenses Subcontractor and consultant costs Cost allocations Client billing requirements Accounts receivable follow-up You'll reconcile project costs against accounting records and prepare accurate billing packages, invoices, cost reports, and supporting documentation for hourly, cost-plus, reimbursable, and other billing arrangements. When something doesn't reconcile, you'll be expected to find out why and get it resolved . Research & Problem Solving Litigation rarely arrives neatly organized. You'll investigate missing information, research legal and construction issues, identify discrepancies, track down documentation, and help solve administrative and financial problems before they become larger issues. You'll also conduct legal and construction-claims research using LexisNexis and other research platforms. Litigation & Claims Support Help organize and coordinate: Contracts and change orders Pay applications Project financial records Correspondence Discovery materials Subpoenas Document requests Expert reports Depositions Mediations Trial-related deadlines You'll coordinate document production and subpoena responses with company leadership, accounting personnel, and outside counsel while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and document controls. Keep Matters Moving You'll monitor active matters for missing information, approaching deadlines, unresolved billing issues, and outstanding action items. When something needs attention, you won't wait for someone else to discover it. You'll identify the issue, determine who needs to be involved, follow up, and drive it toward resolution. Reporting & Financial Support Support month-end close and litigation-related financial reporting while helping leadership maintain visibility into: Active litigation matters Project costs Billing status Outstanding receivables Upcoming deadlines Open administrative issues You'll Thrive Here If You... Naturally dig deeper when numbers or information don't make sense. Have a strong need for accuracy and dislike leaving loose ends. Enjoy mastering complicated subject matter and becoming the person others rely on for answers. Can move between accounting, legal documents, project information, and deadlines without losing the details. Work well independently and don't need someone checking behind you. Notice missing information before someone has to point it out. Like solving problems rather than simply identifying them. Can manage several active priorities and quickly determine what requires attention first. Remain effective when deadlines shift or an unexpected issue suddenly becomes urgent. Are comfortable professionally pushing others for information when a deadline depends on it. Take personal ownership of getting assignments completely finished. Prefer challenging work that requires thinking, investigation, and precision over purely repetitive administrative work. What We're Looking For 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, billing, litigation support, claims administration, project coordination, or a related field. Experience with attorney billing, litigation expenses, insurance claims, construction claims, cost-plus billing, or dispute documentation strongly preferred. Paralegal experience, litigation support experience, or formal legal training is helpful but not required. Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, project cost tracking, and financial documentation is preferred. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Experience with accounting, project-management, legal-billing, or document-management systems is preferred. Experience conducting research through LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar platforms is a plus. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Ability to independently manage a large volume of information, deadlines, and active matters. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with attorneys, executives, consultants, clients, project managers, and accounting personnel. Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field is preferred but not required. Why Kennedy Richter Construction? This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a narrowly defined accounting or administrative position. You'll be exposed to complex construction projects, litigation, financial analysis, legal research, claims, and senior-level decision-making while developing expertise across multiple disciplines. The work requires accuracy and discipline, but every matter presents different problems to solve. You'll have the opportunity to learn, investigate, organize, solve, and become a trusted source of information for the people managing important litigation matters. Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays 401(k) with company match up to 4% after one year Collaborative and communicative team environment If you're analytical, highly organized, naturally curious, and take pride in knowing that the numbers, documents, and details are right, we'd like to hear from you.
